# Service bulletins for the 2018 Ford Expedition

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

165 bulletins from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

- [SSM 52335](/bulletins/10251952.md), 2024-03-20, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. For 2015\-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines and customer concern of an engine oil leak, refer to Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 303\-00 for oil leak inspection and testing methods. Ford has evaluated turbochargers replaced for oil leak symptoms and although oil may collect on the external surface of a turbocharger, it is extremely rare for a turbocharger assembly to be the root cause of the oil leak. Careful inspection of the turbocharger oil feed and drain tubes should be performed along with the recommended WSM procedures as needed. Warranty claims for turbocharger replacement going forward will be assessed.
- [SSM 52314](/bulletins/10251934.md), 2024-03-20, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN. During service and repair requiring removal and replacement of a crankshaft bolt and/or crankshaft damper, achieving proper torque of the crankshaft pulley bolt is critical. Incorrect torque may allow the bolt to loosen resulting in the timing gear breaking and engine damage. Replacement of the bolt is critical to the repair and accurately following the installation procedure in the Workshop Manual \(WSM\) Section, 303\-01 is extremely important. The bolt torque procedure can be found in the crankshaft front seal removal and installation procedure or in the engine assembly procedure.
- [TSB 24\-2046](/bulletins/10251469.md), 2024-03-07, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. This article supersedes TSB 23\-2350 to update the Issue statement and the Service Procedure. This may be due to the transmission solenoid ID strategy, sticking valves in the main control valve body and/or axial movement of the CDF clutch cylinder \(7H351\) sleeve.
- [TSB 23\-2396](/bulletins/10248357.md), 2024-01-05, Service bulletin: SEATS. This article supersedes TSB 23\-2036 to add 2024 vehicle model years. Some 2018\-2024 Navigator and Expedition vehicles may exhibit a concern where the second row seat back does not fold down or recline when the recline handle is pulled upward or the second row single seat easy entry seat fold switch is pressed. This concern may occur with vehicles equipped with two or three second row seats. This may be due to a broken recliner release lever. To correct this concern, replace the recliner release lever.
- [TSB 23\-2350](/bulletins/10245418.md), 2023-11-22, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE \(TCM/PCM/TECM\); POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE. Some 2017\-2020 F\-150, 2018\-2021 Expedition/Navigator/Mustang, 2019\-2023 Ranger vehicles equipped with a 10R80 transmission may exhibit a harsh/delayed engagement and/or harsh/delayed shift, an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp \(MIL\) with diagnostic trouble codes This may be due to the software in the powertrain control module \(PCM\) or transmission control module \(TCM\), the transmission solenoid ID strategy, sticking valves in the main control valve body and/or axial movement of the CDF clutch cylinder \(7H351\) sleeve. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to identify and correct the condition.
- [TSB 23\-2249](/bulletins/10245354.md), 2023-11-21, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN. This article supersedes TSB 23\-2120 to exclude Police Interceptor vehicles with column shift. Some 2018\-2021 Expedition/Navigator and 2020\-2021 Explorer/Aviator vehicles equipped with a 10R80/10R80 MHT or 10R60 \(excluding Police Interceptor vehicles with column shift\) may exhibit a momentary transmission neutral\-out condition while in drive. Vehicle may also have diagnostic trouble code \(DTC\) P07E6 and/or P07E4 stored in the powertrain control module \(PCM\) or transmission control module \(TCM\) and/or a possible audible noise. This may be due to a leak in the park valve circuit. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to inspect the park system hardware for wear or damage and replace the valve body separator plate with an improved valve body separator plate.
- [SAN Vol1 Issue2](/bulletins/10244704.md), 2023-11-02, Service bulletin: UNKNOWN OR OTHER; EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. The Service Awareness Newsletter is an informal communication that contains information that may not be presently available in a TSB, SSM, or GSB, or other electronic communication. This article includes information on warranty, technical service tips and other service information
- [SSM 51939](/bulletins/10243648.md), 2023-10-06, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN. Some 2017\-2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT/10R100 transmission may exhibit a whine noise at idle and/or while driving. This may be identified as coming from the bellhousing and the front of the transmission fluid pan. The whine noise may become louder when the transmission is at operating temperature and may increase with engine revolutions per minute \(RPM\) in the park \(P\) position. A small amount of whine noise is considered to be characteristic of the 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT/10R100 transmissions due to the offset gear drivetrain in the front support and has no effect on durability. Use the Report a Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of OASIS to submit a report if there is a customer concern of whine noise describing operating conditions and noise severity.
