Built 1997\-05\-22 to 1999\-04\-08.

- [2015501](/recalls/tc/2015501.md), 2015-10-23: Engine. On certain vehicles equipped with a 3.8L engine, degradation of the front rocker cover gasket may result in eventual oil seepage. Under hard braking, drops of engine oil may be deposited on the exhaust manifold. If the manifold is hot enough and the oil runs below the heat shield, it may ignite into a small flame and, in some instances, the fire may spread to the plastic spark plug wire channel and beyond. An under\-hood fire could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the engine’s front valve cover and front\-valve\-cover gasket with new parts. The engine’s plastic “beauty” cover and plastic oil\-fill\-tube extension will also be removed, if they haven’t been already. Note: This recall supersedes and is an expansion of recalls 2008\-081, 2009\-105 and 2015\-145. All vehicles having been inspected and/or serviced under the previous recall will require re\-inspection and repair.
- [2009105](/recalls/tc/2009105.md), 2009-04-08: Engine. On certain vehicles equipped with a 3.8L naturally aspirated engine, degradation of the front rocker cover gasket may result in eventual oil seepage. Under hard braking, drops of engine oil may be deposited on the exhaust manifold. If the manifold is hot enough and the oil runs below the heat shield, it may ignite into a small flame and, in some instances, the fire may spread to the plastic spark plug wire channel and beyond. An under\-hood fire could result in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will remove the spark plug wire retention channel at the front of the engine and install two new\-revised spark plug wire retainers.
- [2002234](/recalls/tc/2002234.md), 2002-12-04: Airbag. On certain vehicles, the passenger air bag was manufactured without a check pin. An air bag without the check pin could produce increased pressure at the onset of the air bag deployment and reduced pressure afterward. This could increase the severity of injury to a person who was not properly restrained and who was close to the passenger air bag at the time of deployment. It could also reduce the ability of the air bag to protect a restrained front seat passenger. Correction: Dealers are to inspect, and if necessary, replace the passenger air bag.
- [2000080](/recalls/tc/2000080.md), 2000-03-21: Accessories. On certain vehicles operated in areas of high salt use, the spare tire hoist cable may corrode and eventually break. This would allow the spare tire to fall off the vehicle possibly resulting in a road hazard for other vehicles. Correction: A letter will be sent to owners of affected vehicles with maintenance and inspection instructions for spare tire hoist cable assemblies. Additionally, the letter will advise the owner that, if the cable breaks during that inspection, their dealer will repair the assembly. This policy will be in effect until December 31, 2002.
- [1999081](/recalls/tc/1999081.md), 1999-05-12: Emissions. Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 1101 \- Emission Device. Emission control labels have an incorrect vacuum hose routing schematic. Correction: Dealers will install a new vehicle emission control label on the radiator support.
- [1998193](/recalls/tc/1998193.md), 1998-09-28: Engine. Certain vehicles may be equipped with ignition coil/control module assemblies that were incorrectly manufactured and may result in setting the SES light and causing various driveability problems, including engine misfire. Correction: Ignition coil/control module assembly will be inspected for suspect date codes and lot numbers and replaced if necessary.
