BMW of North America, LLC \(BMW\) is recalling certain 2000\-2002 BMW 320i, 323i, 325i, 325xi, 330i, 330xi, 323Ci, 325Ci, 330Ci, M3, 323iT, 325iT and 325xiT vehicles, 2001\-2002 525i, 530i, 540i, M5, 525iT and 540iT vehicles, and 2001\-2003 X5 3.0i, X5 4.4i, and X5 4.6is vehicles. These vehicles may have had a driver\-side air bag module installed as replacement equipment such as after a vehicle crash necessitating replacement of the original air bag, or as a remedy part for a prior recall. These replacement modules contain an air bag inflator that may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long\-term exposure to lower absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling. Built 2000\-04\-18 to 2003\-01\-31. **NHTSA advises: do not drive until the repair is done.**

- [2019020](/recalls/tc/2019020.md), 2019-01-15: Airbag. Issue: 2023 Update \- BMW has updated this recall and issued a do not drive advisory for all vehicles that that not yet been repaired. Some vehicles may contain a replacement sport steering wheel with a Takata driver\-front air bag module. Long\-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the driver\-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: BMW advises not to drive your vehicle unless this recall repair has been completed. BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the driver\-front airbag inflator. The driver\-front airbag module or inflator will be replaced as necessary. To learn if your vehicle requires repair, owners may: • Visit https://www.bmw.ca/en/ssl/VehicleRecall.html • Contact your preferred or local BMW Retailer • Call BMW Customer Relations Recall Services at 1\-855\-217\-3002
- [2017034](/recalls/tc/2017034.md), 2017-01-20: Airbag. Issue: 2023 Update \- BMW has updated this recall and issued a do not drive advisory for all vehicles that that not yet been repaired. This recall is for certain vehicles that had an airbag inflator replaced as a part of an earlier recall campaign. This recall provides a final repair. - [2015230](/recalls/tc/2015230.md), 2015-05-27: Airbag. Issue: 2023 Update \- BMW has updated this recall and issued a do not drive advisory for all vehicles that that not yet been repaired. Note: This recall supersedes special service campaign 2014\-587. Correction: Dealers will replace the airbag module. - [2012129](/recalls/tc/2012129.md), 2012-04-12: Label. Certain vehicles fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Specifically, the compliance label does not indicate the wheel rim size, as required by the Standard. Correction: Due to the inconsequential nature of this non\-compliance, no action will be taken.
- [2003131](/recalls/tc/2003131.md), 2003-05-16: Brakes. On certain vehicles, the gap between the brake line and the cardan joint of the steering shaft is too small. The brake line may come into contact with the joint and eventually suffer damage and corrosion. Ultimately, a loss of brake fluid accompanied by a reduction in front brake performance may occur. Correction: Dealer will evaluate the distance between the brake line and the cardan joint of the steering shaft. If this distance is not sufficient, it will be increased.
