## United States (NHTSA), as of 2026-10-19

- [06V164000](/recalls/nhtsa/06V164000.md), 2006-05-15: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP. ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, UNDER RAPID, REPEATED, AND UNUSUALLY HARSH BRAKING, LOSS OF ABS CAPABILITY COULD TEMPORARILY OCCUR. Built 2004\-01\-01 to 2006\-02\-28.
- [06V134000](/recalls/nhtsa/06V134000.md), 2006-04-24: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, IF CERTAIN PROCEDURES ARE PERFORMED THAT INVOLVES REMOVAL OF THE FRONT LEFT BRAKE CALIPER, THE ABS SENSOR CABLE CAN BE ROUTED INCORRECTLY AND WHEN THE CALIPER IS REINSTALLED, THE SENSOR CABLE CAN COME INTO CONTACT AND RUB AGAINST THE FRONT BRAKE DISC. OVERTIME, IF THE CHAFING BECOMES SEVERE, IT IS POSSIBLE TO LOSE THE ABS FUNCTION. Built 2004\-01\-01 to 2006\-02\-28.
- [05V082000](/recalls/nhtsa/05V082000.md), 2005-03-03: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP. ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE DEFECT INVOLVES A WATER LEAK AROUND THE FUEL PUMP THAT IS INTEGRATED WITHIN THE FUEL TANK. AN O\-RING SEAL ATTACHED TO THE PUMP'S ELECTRONIC HOUSING DOES NOT MEET SPECIFICATIONS AND WATER CAN BYPASS THIS SEAL AND CONTACT THE PUMP ELECTRONICS. Built 2003\-11\-03 to 2004\-06\-29.

## Canada (Transport Canada), as of 2026-10-19

- [2020437](/recalls/tc/2020437.md), 2020-09-16: Fuel System. Issue: On certain motorcycles, the fuel pump flange could crack. If this happens, fuel could leak while the engine is running. Note: This recall only affects motorcycles that did not have the fuel pump replaced under Transport Canada recall 2013\-442. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the fuel pump and auxiliary fuel pump \(if equipped\) with an improved version.
- [2017428](/recalls/tc/2017428.md), 2017-09-01: Lights And Instruments. Certain motorcycles with dealer installed accessory turn signals may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard \(CVMSS\) 108 \- Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The size of the lens on the accessory turn signals may be too small, and therefore would not meet the requirements of the standard. This could reduce vehicle conspicuity to following and approaching road users, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the accessory turn signals with factory indicators that meet the requirements of the standard.
- [2015101](/recalls/tc/2015101.md), 2015-03-11: Powertrain. On certain motorcycles, the threaded holes on the rear wheel flange could crack if the wheel bolts are tightened beyond the specified torque limit during servicing. Over time, this could allow the bolts to back out of their threaded holes, causing the rear wheel to become loose. This could result in a loss of stability of the motorcycle, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the aluminum rear wheel flange with a steel flange.
- [2010268](/recalls/tc/2010268.md), 2010-08-11: Other. On certain motorcycles, if the hand protector is twisted out of position relative to the handlebar lever, to the extent that lever and protector come into contact, there is a possibility that the handlebar lever remain continuously in the partly operated position. This is turn can cause problems with the brake function and could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Owners will receive a loose\-leaf insert as an addendum to the Rider's Manual and two stickers complete with the installation instructions, or owners may have their authorised BMW motorcycle dealers do the installations for them.
- [2008418](/recalls/tc/2008418.md), 2008-11-19: Lights And Instruments. Certain motorcycles fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 108 \- Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment. The front turn signals were installed in an improper location. As a result, the rider's intentions to turn may not be conveyed clearly to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the turn signal base.
- [2006118](/recalls/tc/2006118.md), 2006-05-24: Brakes. Certain motorcycles may exhibit a temporary loss of ABS function as a result of an "overpressure" effect in the brake system caused by applying significant force to the brake lever under rapid, repeated and unusually harsh braking. Loss of ABS function can increase the risk of a crash in certain traffic and road conditions. Correction: Dealers will install a banjo bolt with a flow restrictor to the front brake line.
- [2006089](/recalls/tc/2006089.md), 2006-04-20: Brakes. Certain motorcycles may have an incorrectly routed front Anti\-Lock Brake System \(ABS\) sensor cable. If certain service procedures are performed, for example, a front tire change which involves removal of the front left brake caliper, it is possible for the ABS sensor cable to be routed incorrectly when the caliper is reinstalled. If this happens, the sensor cable can come into contact with, and rub/chafe against, the front brake disk. Over time, if the chafing becomes severe, it is possible to lose the ABS function. Correction: Dealers will attach additional retaining clips to the ABS sensor cable.
- [2005120](/recalls/tc/2005120.md), 2005-04-26: Other. On certain motorcycles, foreign objects such as small stones or other small/hardened road debris could fall into, and become caught between, the throttle body and the engine block. If this happens, movement of the throttle cable pulley can become restricted which could lead to difficult or imprecise throttle control. Correction: Dealers will install a cover over the throttle cable pulley.
- [2005039](/recalls/tc/2005039.md), 2005-02-18: Fuel System. On certain motorcycles, moisture may penetrate the cavity underneath the electronic controller of the fuel pump. If this happens, the contacts of the controller's electric plug can become corroded, causing the fuel pump to fail. In this situation, the engine could shut off due to lack of fuel and subsequently losing propulsion to the rear wheel. Correction: Dealers will replace the seal that protects the fuel pump electronics.
- [2004199](/recalls/tc/2004199.md), 2004-06-17: Brakes. On certain motorcycles, the o\-ring seal between the Integral Anti\-lock Brake System \(IABS\) sensor and the rear axle housing may have been damaged during assembly and could develop a differential oil leak. If this happens, oil could contact the rear wheel and the rear wheel brake disk. Correction: Dealers will replace the o\-ring seal.
