## Maintenance updates from the manufacturer

- [MC0000517](/bulletins/10136753.md), 2018-05-14. Changing of the drive chain set is presently prescribed at 12,000 mi. in the maintenance schedule for BMW Service for the K02 and K03 models. A change at this stage may not be required. Thus the maintenance work "Changing the chain set" will be replaced by the maintenance work "Checking and lubricating the chain drive" as in the case of other models with chain drive. [NHTSA's copy of the document](https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2017/MC-10136753-9999.pdf)

Bulletins from the manufacturer that mention a maintenance schedule or a service interval, as NHTSA summarises them. They are not the schedule itself: read the document, and the owner's manual.

## Shares campaigns and bulletins with

- 2018 BMW G 310 GS (6 of 9)

Worked out from the recall campaigns and bulletins that list both. It does not mean a part or a repair for one fits the other.

## What owners report

7 complaints filed with NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19. 1 report a crash, 0 a fire and 0 an injury.

These are counts of the complaints owners filed with NHTSA about this model year. A complaint is an owner's report: it is not verified by NHTSA or by this site, and it is not a finding that anything is wrong with the vehicle. A count is not a rate: a model that sold more has more complaints. A complaint may name several components, so the components do not add up to the total.
