Service bulletins for the 2014 BMW ActiveHybrid 3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

B2407122018-11-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. "This Service Information bulletin supersedes SI B24 07 12 dated November 2012 SUBJECT Hybrid Automatic Transmission: Fluid Maintenance Service Interval. INFORMATION Only properly trained personnel, who have passed all applicable technical training courses, should perform any maintenance or repairs on any Hybrid or Electric Vehicle. Work performed by unqualified persons may result in severe injury or damage to the vehicle. Additional information may be found in REP 61 00... Observe safety instructions when handling electric vehicles. This requirement is due to the hybrid-specific components that are contained in the transmission. Refer to Repair Instruction 00 00 630, ""Automatic transmission fluid service (GA8P70Z) N55 hybrid,"" for the proper servicing procedure. Refer to SI B00 09 12 for BMW Maintenance Program claim-related information."
B3408142018-11-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY; WHEELS:HUB; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC. Ticking Noise from Front Axle When Cornering. The customer may complain of a ticking noise from the front axle when cornering, maneuvering, parking or pulling away from a parking space. The noise can be heard as a light metallic ticking from the front outer cornering wheel. Movement between the brake disc and wheel bearing hub.
B2702152018-11-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. Rattling Noise from Transmission Tunnel. A rattling or knocking noise is heard in the area of the gear selector switch (GWS) during engine load reversal. CAUSE The vent tube for the transfer case is making contact with the transmission tunnel.
6103142018-11-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. Check Control Messages Related to Battery Charge During Cold Ambient Temperatures. On cold days with an outside ambient temperature of less than 15°F, customers may notice a check control message related to the battery that is displayed on the instrument cluster and the control information display. Under these conditions, the vehicle starts. Various power management faults can be stored. When the outside temperatures drop below 46°F, the charging system is switch to full charge. CAUSE ? The check control message (ID 229) is caused by a heavily discharged battery. ? The check control message is triggered when the current state of charge (SoC) of the battery approaches the minimum SoC that is required to start the vehicle (start capability limit). ? In low outside ambient temperatures, the start capability limit of the vehicle is higher. Therefore it takes more energy from the battery to start a cold engine. ? Without the early warning of the check control message, the current state of charge would drop below the start capability limit and the vehicle would not start. ? The vehicle's intelligent power management system actively takes measures to increase the charge of the battery, such as increasing idle speed and reducing or shutting down certain electrical consumers.
B2402152018-11-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; POWER TRAIN. 8HP: TRANSMISSION FLUID LOSS FROM COOLER LINES CONNECTIONS. There is a transmission fluid leak in the area around the oil cooler lines (on the transmission side). CAUSE Damaged O-rings due to unfavorable cooling line connection tolerances
