Service bulletins for the 2011 BMW 335i
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

WARRANTY INFORMATION Covered under the terms of the BMW New Car/SAV Limited Warranty or the BMW Certified Pre-Owned Program. Specific eligible repairs may also be covered by the terms of the Federal, State or BMW Emissions Warranty. To determine if any applicable Federal, State or BMW Emissions Warranty coverage applies prior to performing repairs, please see SI B01 02 11 for ""Emissions Warranty Coverage"" and refer to the ""Glossary of Emission Coverage"" attachment for more information. The BMW Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty applies to BMW CPO vehicles that are still within the BMW Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty, but beyond Emissions Warranty coverage that applies. Labor operation code 00 00 006 is a Main labor operation. If you are using a Main labor code for another repair, use the Plus code labor operation 00 00 556 instead. Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance. Enter the Chassis Number, which consists of the last 7 digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Click on the ""Search"" button, and then enter the applicable flat rate labor operation in the FR code field. Other Repairs As outlined in the Procedure section, if other eligible and covered consequential work is required, claim this work under the defect code listed above with the applicable labor operations listed in KSD2." |

| B124015 | 2018-11-13. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE. "Due to a DME software status error, the on-board diagnostics (OBD) for the catalytic convertor and downstream oxygen sensor may not function properly. This could result that the OBD readiness for ""Oxygen sensor"" will not set as completed, but it would not have any effect on the actual tailpipe emissions." |
| 123814 | 2018-11-13. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM; ENGINE. SUBJECT N20, N26, and N55 Engines with Injector Electrical Faults. Any of the following symptoms could occur simultaneously with injector electrical faults stored in the DME: z After the engine is turned off for a short time, it can no longer be started; however, the starter motor turns. z The engine starts but immediately cuts off. z The engine runs erratically or lacks power. z The Service Engine Soon light (MIL) may be on with several poetential faults stored. The DME has malfunctioned due to an internal fault. |
| 120415 | 2018-11-13. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE. SUBJECT DME Internal and Valvetronic Faults Set at Cold Ambient Temperatures. The Service Engine Soon light (MIL) can be illuminated with the erroneous internal and Valvetronic faults stored in the DME. The MIL will only come on if the fault has been detected on two (or more) consecutive drive cycles. The following fault codes may be stored in the DME: E Seriesz 36AE - DME, internal fault, Valvetronic: Current implausible One or more of the following secondary faults may also be stored: z 2DE2 - Valvetronic, actuation, voltage phase: Line disconnection z 2DE3 - Valvetronic, actuation, volt phase: Line disconnection z 2DE4 - Valvetronic, actuation, volt phase: Line disconnection F Seriesz 1F0905 - DME, internal fault, Valvetronic: Current implausible One or more of the following secondary faults may also be stored: z 135B10 - Valvetronic, actuation, voltage phase: Line disconnection z 135B11 - Valvetronic, actuation, volt phase: Line disconnection z 135B12 - Valvetronic, actuation, volt phase: Line disconnection Engine performance and driving characteristics are not affected. | B010817 | 2018-11-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE. "INTAKE CHARGE-AIR DUCT: LIMITED WARRANTY EXTENSION TO 10 YEARS/120,000 MILES. For the eligible vehicles, BMW of North America, LLC (""BMW NA"") is extending the limited warranty for the engine's intake charge-air duct to: 10 years/120,000 miles as determined by the vehicle's original in-service date Item #1: This ""component-specific"" limited warranty extension applies to defects in materials or workmanship This coverage is subject to the same vehicle eligibility requirements, limitations, and exclusions that apply to the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty for Passenger Cars and Light Trucks. Item # 2: The pressure sensor, only in conjunction with a required replacement of the of the intake charge-air duct. Note: This bulletin is notice of a ""limited warranty extension."" This is NOT a notice of a Recall or Service Action. There is no immediate repair required unless the BMW vehicle is currently experiencing this problem. Customer Notification Letter - VIN and Component-specific Warranty Extension Even though this is NOT a Recall, BMW NA sent VIN-specific customer notification letters release." |
| B130315 | 2018-11-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. N20, N26, N55, N63TU, S63TU and S55 Engines: Bosch Injector ETK Part Number Error What's New: ? Procedure change: indentifying injector type using an ISTA test plan. . The current version of the ETK incorporates multiple part number errors for the Bosch type injectors. Ordering the injectors by VIN number or manual identification in ETK may result in an incorrect part number. |
| B180310 | 2018-11-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. "? NO REGENERATION OF THE DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER (DPF) This Service Information bulletin supersedes SI B18 03 10 dated November 2010. . The Service Engine Soon lamp is illuminated. The following fault codes may be stored in the DDE: N47T/N57T engine 245700 - Particle filter system: particulate filter highly loaded (Exhaust backpressure high) 245800 - particle filter system - filter is heavily contaminated. (exhaust backpressure is above maximum) M57Y engine 480A Particle filter system - filter is heavily contaminated. (exhaust backpressure is too high) 481A Particle filter system - filter is heavily contaminated. (exhaust backpressure is above maximum) CAUSE 1. Faults with the exhaust system that affect the monitoring of the DPF by the DDE 2. Unfavorable recent driving profile INFORMATIOM During normal driving, there is a continuous regeneration of the diesel particulate filter that takes place at exhaust-gas temperatures between 280 and 350°C (slower oxidation process). The soot particles can only be burned off when the required exhaust-gas temperature has been reached. Under certain driving conditions (i.e., prolonged short trips or an exhaust system which never reaches soot burn-off temperatures), the DPF can become restricted. The DDE will initiate periodic regeneration automatically, at the latest after 600 miles. In vehicles making many short distance journeys, periodic regeneration takes place after only 250-500 miles. The Digital Diesel Electronics control unit evaluates the time for periodic regeneration from the following values: average distance driven average driving speed temperature in the diesel particulate filter values from the exhaust pressure sensor The DDE initiates the regeneration process by decreasing incoming air by the throttle valve, and one or two post injections are executed. This heats the exhaust-gas temperature to approx. 600° C . When the exhaust temp reaches this point: The soot is burned off with the residual oxygen. The |
