Customer statement: - Warning message within the DIP - The message asks the customer to warm up engine accompanied by a yellow warning (Figure 1) No other symptoms are experienced. Technical background: The warning is caused by the level of unburnt fuel in the engine oil. This value is calculated by the Engine Control Module (ECM) and is based on the driver usage pattern The more cold starts the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) is exposed to the higher the chance of fuel making its way into the engine oil via the cylinders When the fuel calculation reaches the pre-programmed amount this then causes the DTC to be triggered |

| 2061369/1 | 2020-12-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Engine overheating - Warning on the DIP - V8 Kovomo. Customer statement / workshop findings: -Customer reports an engine overheat warning on the DIP -Engine overheats -Unusual cooling fan operation at high temperatures -There are no signs of coolant leaks both internally or externally Technical background: To heat the engine as quickly as possible during cold starting, delivery of coolant by the coolant pump is interrupted in the warm-up phase by the solenoid for the mechanical coolant pump. The solenoid is designed to cut off the vacuum supply to the coolant pump when the engine reaches the maximum temperature, the vacuum cut off allows the engine to start circulating coolant by retracting a sleeve which is situated around the coolant pump impeller. When the solenoid is at fault (sticking open) the vacuum supply is constant, this allows the sleeve to stay in position around the impellor which leads to the symptoms described within the Customer statement/Workshop findings section of this TPI. |

| 2049586/7 | 2020-11-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. Misfiring, W12 TSI - Excessive carbon build up cylinder leakage. Customer statement/workshop findings: Customer statement: Emission control warning signal displayed, engine misfire Workshop findings: Event entries in engine control unit relating to cylinder misfires – excessive carbon build up to leading to cylinder leakage and spark plug foul Technical background: Deviations in the country-specific fuel specifications can lead to carbon deposits on the injectors. If pronounced these deposits can lead to spark plug fouling, cylinder leakage and fouled injectors all influencing combustion in the cylinder. As a result the above event entries are logged in the engine control unit |
| 2057978/4 | 2020-11-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. Engine Lubricating Oil - Replenishment. Customer statement / workshop findings: Engine lubricating oil lamp illuminated on driver instrument panel. Engine lubricating oil requires topping up between services. Technical background: In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically, engines with specified running-in periods consume more oil during the running-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the running-in period. Refer to the Owners Manual for specific running-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, ambient temperature and road conditions. Additional factors are the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue, and the oxidation level of the oil. Certain driving conditions may negatively influence the rate of oil consumption. This can occur while the vehicle is operated in city driving conditions, for example: stop and go traffic with extended idle periods. |
| 2050334/6 | 2020-11-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Ticking noise from engine bay. Customer statement/workshop findings: Ticking noise emanating from rear of Bank 1 cylinder head Technical background: Noise from failed vacuum pump |
| 2060205/2 | 2020-11-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Engine Cooling System - DTC P218100 - V8 Kovomo Technical background: It is possible for the engine coolant Thermostat to corrode over time, this corrosion is due to an adverse reaction of the Thermostat material with the engine coolant. The corrosion and subsequent build-up of debris prevents the correct operation of the thermostat when closing, resulting in over cooling. The ECM triggers a DTC when the target engine temperature is outside of the specified parameter |
| 2049586/6 | 2020-08-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Misfiring, W12 TSI - Excessive carbon build up cylinder leakage. Customer statement/workshop findings: Customer statement: Emission control warning signal displayed, engine misfire Workshop findings: Event entries in engine control unit relating to cylinder misfires excessive carbon build up to leading to cylinder leakage and spark plug foul Technical background: Deviations in the country-specific fuel specifications can lead to carbon deposits on the injectors. If pronounced these deposits can lead to spark plug fouling, cylinder leakage and fouled injectors all influencing combustion in the cylinder. As a result the above event entries are logged in the engine control unit |
| 2054077/2 | 2020-08-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE; SERVICE BRAKES; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Bentayga - Ticking noise behind Driver Instrument Panel. Customer statement/workshop findings: Ticking noise behind Driver Instrument Panel. Technical background: In certain circumstances a ticking noise behind the Driver Instrument Panel may be audible within the vehicle cabin. The ticking noise emanates from the vacuum system and may be more noticeable following several successive brake pedal actuations. |
| 2055540/2 | 2020-08-07. Service bulletin. ENGINE; STEERING; POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT; SUSPENSION. Rumble noise and/or floor pan/steering column vibration. Customer statement/workshop findings Floor pan or steering column/steering wheel vibration when manoeuvring/steering at slow speeds with steering wheel input Technical background Prior to carrying out the assessments within the Measure section, the retailer must check and confirm the following: The engine has not been chip tuned The vehicle is in standard condition (as per factory specification) ensuring that NO non approved accessories are fitted The suspension, steering and brake components are in a serviceable condition The engine, transmission mounts, powertrain and all wheel bearings are in a serviceable condition The exhaust system and all wheels and tyres are in a serviceable condition (as per factory specification) Once confirmed that all the afore mentioned criteria has been met the assessment can then be conducted |

| 2028808/4 | 2020-08-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Engine oil. Specific oil type and oil consumption reference. Customer statement / workshop findings: Engine oil level requires to:p up between services. Technical background The use of the correct oil for each engine type is critical for its continued performance, reliability and ultimately warranty. The workshop manual should always be the first point of reference, ensuring the correct lubricant is used for each specific model year and engine type Should oil be required the parts catalogue must be referred to ensuring the correct VIN is always used when ordering |
