Service bulletins for the 2014 Audi RS 5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A911732 2033355- | 2018-02-05. Service bulletin. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL. This informational bulletin contains information on why ACC sensor could be deactivated. |
|---|---|
| A461772 2047830 | 2018-02-05. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. This informational bulletin contains instructions for proper brake maintenance. |
| A271421 2036392- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Vibrations are felt at 1000 rpm and 3000 rpm. DTCs are stored in the subframe mount control module. The basic settings of the active engine mounts in the subframe mount control module, J931, are deactivated when work is done on either of the vehicle electrical system control modules, J519 and/or J520 (for example, when a key is programmed). As a result, the vehicle vibrates or judders when cylinders are actively switched off. |
| A871447 2010146- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 12-27 dated April 24, 2012. There is an unpleasant, musty odor coming from the heating and ventilation system. The odor usually occurs when the vehicle has been sitting unused for five hours or more. The odor usually occurs within 20 to 60 seconds after the vehicle is started. Condensation, which is a normal condition in all A/C systems, can cause a musty odor. If the odor is noticeable in the vehicle when the engine is not turned on, the cause may be mold and mildew in the passenger compartment, and not be related to the A/C system. All other possible sources of the odor must be investigated before this bulletin can be performed. |
| A461468 2034181- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 14-67 dated January 21, 2014. Customer may report hearing brake noise from front or rear brakes. Customers may describe these noises as a squeal, squeak, grinding, groaning, thumping, or creaking. Before proceeding with any of the following steps, check for any applicable TSBs for brake noise. This TSB should not be used if another brake noise TSB is available for the vehicle. For additional helpful information, refer to the Audi Brake Systems brochure. |

The process of draining oil through the drain plug is not always tidy. When oil is drained through the drain plug, the oil might spill on components around the oil pan area. If it is not properly cleaned up, this spilled oil could drip after the procedure is complete, causing unnecessary customer complaints. |
| A371452 2039267- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Bump felt just after the vehicle is brought to a stop. Rattle noise heard from transmission at idle speed. The software of the transmission mechatronic control module, J743, needs to be updated. |

| A661441 2038477- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY. The rear spoiler extends slowly or operates erratically. An error light for the rear spoiler may be illuminated. The rear spoiler operation can be restricted due to corrosion in the spoiler drive unit. As a result, the rear spoiler becomes stiff and does not reach its end points. This may cause a rear spoiler error light to be illuminated. |

| A371309 2028715- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 37 number 12-40 dated February 28, 2012. Rough gear changes, both when accelerating and when slowing down. There is a rough driving power disruption that occurs sporadically and lasts for less than a second. After a mechatronics, torque converter, or complete gearbox replacement, the clutches must be adapted to the new component. This requires a gradual move of the clutch linings toward the optimal operating points in the most diverse load conditions. As a result, sporadic driving power disruptions lasting for less than a second or reduced shift comfort are possible over the first 500 miles. This is normal, and these issues will decrease over time. The issues can also occur if the adaptation values of the gearbox were deleted. |
| A011369 2028344- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 12-57 dated October 29, 2012. Noises/inconsistent engine operation after cold start during the catalyst heating phase. The customer may interpret this engine roughness as misfiring. To comply with the legal requirements on exhaust gas emissions according to the LEV-1 and LEV-2 standards, a high exhaust gas quality must be ensured. The necessary catalyst only operates at a temperature over 300°C (572°F). To achieve this, the catalyst is heated up. The catalyst heating phase is achieved by a late ignition angles and by introducing additional fresh air to the exhaust valves (secondary air system). Late ignition angles make sure that the exhaust gas from the cylinders has a higher temperature. This exhaust gas includes fuel that is un-burnt, and was deliberately injected into great quantities. The secondary air system adds fresh air to the exhaust gas as it leaves the cylinder and the extra fuel is burnt. As a result, the temperatures of the exhaust gas and of the catalyst increase quickly. The afterburning in the exhaust manifold before the catalyst changes the sound characteristic of the engine. This heating-up of the catalyst, including afterburning, is normal and has no effect on the service life of the engine. During this catalyst heating phase, the engine has increased idle speed, may have increased vibrations, and has a different sound characteristic. Depending on conditions, the time of the catalyst heating phase varies. |
| A571386 2027368- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 12-73 dated September 24, 2012. The exterior door handle touch sensors (Advanced key) are inoperative on one or several doors. The key blade can be used mechanically (driver door or trunk) or remote electrically (key remote buttons) to unlock and lock the vehicle. |
| A971335 2033412- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM; STEERING. Steering wheel lock does not work. Various warning lights are on. Steering feels stiffer than usual. The engine cannot be switched off. The ignition key cannot be removed. DTC with description "Brake control unit, no signal/communication" is present in several control units. DTC entry in ABS Control unit, J104 (03). One or more may be present. This condition does not result in any drivability concerns. The steering system is fully connected. This condition does not result in any drivability concerns. The steering system is fully connected. The insulation for the ABS wheel speed sensor is damaged in production. Over time, this can lead to corrosion on the wires and restricted functions with the ABS control module. Only the wires in the left bulkhead grommet are affected. |
