Service bulletins for the 2013 Audi Q5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Customer may report hearing creaking or squeaking noise from the steering column when steering slowly (the noise can be duplicated while the vehicle is stationary if the steering wheel is turned slowly). The noise may get louder at higher temperatures or when the vehicle is driven for a longer period of time. The noise comes from the sealing sleeve/steering column opening on the bulkhead. Listen to the attached audio file for example of the noise. Insufficient lubrication of the intermediate steering shaft in the area of the sealing sleeve. |

Steering feels stiffer than usual. The engine cannot be switched off. The ignition key cannot be removed. DTC with description "Brake control unit, no signal/communication" is present in several control units. DTC entry in ABS Control unit, J104 (03). One or more may be present. This condition does not result in any drivability concerns. The steering system is fully connected. This condition does not result in any drivability concerns. The steering system is fully connected. The insulation for the ABS wheel speed sensor is damaged in production. Over time, this can lead to corrosion on the wires and restricted functions with the ABS control module. Only the wires in the left bulkhead grommet are affected. |
| A461525 2022584- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. STEERING: STEERING WHEEL/HANDLE BAR; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 14-86 dated July 14, 2014. DO NOT use this TSB if there is another TSB for same concern applicable to the VIN. This TSB is only intended for diagnostic purposes and does not serve as a guideline for determining warrantable conditions. Customer may report that the steering wheel vibrates or pulsates when the brakes are applied. driving style, environmental conditions, and service history of the vehicle. Additionally, as brake pads and discs wear, their dampening ability is reduced. Disc thickness variation (DTV) is a common condition that contributes to brake pulsation. DTV occurs when the two braking surfaces of the brake disc are no longer parallel to each other. This condition cannot be accurately measured with normal workshop tools. |
| A401548 2042603- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. STEERING. When the vehicle is driven between 35 mph and 75 mph, a noise can be heard in the front of the vehicle. The customer may say that the noise is coming from the steering column area, and may describe the sound as buzzing, humming, whistling, whining, grinding, howling, and/or droning. The best way to understand the complaint is to discuss it with the customer. Faulty wheel bearing(s) may cause the noise. |

If an applicable Repair Authorization is not followed, the claim will not be paid. The vibrations felt by the customer could be a result of the harmonic vibrations caused by the radial force variation (RFV) of the tires or an imbalance of the wheel and tire assembly. |

| A441340 2027779- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. STEERING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 48 number 12-33 dated October 22, 2012. After replacing the electromechanical steering with the control unit J500, the unit cannot be coded via SVM spec/actual. All new replacement power steering control units (J500) must be coded and parameterized using online SVM spec/actual or an SVM code. If the SVM spec/actual returns a response of ?Check Hardware?, then the SVM code is required to code and parameterize the new replacement control unit. The SVM code can be found in Parts Bulletin 9-97, which is available online through ETKA. |
