Service bulletins for the 2013 Audi Q5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A461486 2022584- | 2018-02-05. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION; AIR BAGS; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. Brake-related vibration and pulsation has several causes that depend on driving style and resulting brake disc temperature, as well as environmental conditions. Both the intensity of the wear of the brake system and the type of wear depend on the operating conditions of the vehicle. The wear of the brake discs is determined by the frequency and intensity of the brake operations. Dirt build-up, exposure to sand, long standing times, and road salt or similar, can also promote wear as well as cause scoring marks on the brake discs. The driving style of the driver also influences the wear of the brake system. An overly-aggressive driving style, which results in frequent sharp braking, can lead to more wear (particularly of the brake pads). A gentle driving style can result in very light brake applications. If the brakes are always applied with little pressure, a rust film and other airborne particles may settle on the brake discs and pads. Firm brake operations can help clean off such build-up from the brakes. |
| A461777 2043706- | 2018-02-05. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. This technical service bulletin provides troubleshooting for a squeal sound from the front brakes. |

| A461354 2034988- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Customer may report that the front brakes squeal during the first stop in the morning while backing out of a driveway, applying the brakes after changing driving directions at slow speeds, and this condition may occur more frequently during cold weather conditions (without rain) and the noise will disappear as temperature increases. This PSS TSB does not apply to Q5 Hybrid models. Various parts have been replaced under warranty for the condition noted above, but no issues have been identified with the replaced parts. |
| A531302 2034404- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; PARKING BRAKE. Customer may report that the vehicle does not start due to a discharged battery. DTC U101100 (supply voltage too low) is stored in the gateway, J533 (address word 19), and/or the electronic parking brake (EPB) control module, J540 (address word 53). According to the test plan "19-Read Data Bus Keep-Awake Manager", the EPB control module kept the data bus active for prolonged periods of time. The EPB switch appears to be permanently operating (applying or releasing the parking brake) due to an internal mechanical issue or because it is jammed or blocked by debris or by a foreign object. Test plan "19-Read Data Bus Keep-Awake Manager", identifies the EPB control module as keeping the data bus active for prolonged periods of time. |
| A461348 2034404- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. PARKING BRAKE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 53 number 13-02 dated July 11, 2013. | A461347 2034387- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; PARKING BRAKE. Customer may report sporadically hearing the parking brake being actuated after the vehicle has been switched off. If the customer does not identify the sound as the sound of the parking brake being actuated, he or she may simply complain of hearing noises from the rear brakes. Ignition is switched off. Steering is locked. Park is selected. Parking brake is not engaged. If the electro-mechanical parking brake is not operated for some time, the free play between brake pads and brake discs increases because of normal brake pad wear. The parking brake control unit performs an automatic correction about every 621 miles (1,000 km). On A8 models, the brake pad thickness is also calculated. |
| A461331 2033382- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Customer may report that the front brakes squeal when the vehicle comes to a stop. This condition may occur more frequently during cold weather conditions (without rain). This TSB does not apply to Q5 Hybrid models. Various parts have been replaced under warranty for the condition noted above, but no issues have been identified with the replaced parts. In an effort to gain information on the brake noise for the vehicles listed above, we are asking that you contact the Audi Technical Assistance Center (TAC) before replacing any parts. This will assist us in diagnosing any potential issues with the condition noted above. |

| A461525 2022584- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. STEERING: STEERING WHEEL/HANDLE BAR; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 14-86 dated July 14, 2014. DO NOT use this TSB if there is another TSB for same concern applicable to the VIN. This TSB is only intended for diagnostic purposes and does not serve as a guideline for determining warrantable conditions. Customer may report that the steering wheel vibrates or pulsates when the brakes are applied. driving style, environmental conditions, and service history of the vehicle. Additionally, as brake pads and discs wear, their dampening ability is reduced. Disc thickness variation (DTV) is a common condition that contributes to brake pulsation. DTV occurs when the two braking surfaces of the brake disc are no longer parallel to each other. This condition cannot be accurately measured with normal workshop tools. |
| A461523 2034181- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 15-02 dated February 9, 2015. The customer may report hearing brake noise from front or rear brakes. The customer may describe these noises as a squeal, squeak, grinding, groaning, thumping, or creaking. DO NOT use this TSB if there is another brake noise TSB applicable to the VIN. For additional information, refer to the Audi Brake systems brochure. Brake noise can be attributed to many causes. Brake discs or brake pads are close to or below their wear limit. New brake pads and/or discs have not been properly imbedded after installation. Aftermarket pads or discs are installed. There is debris (such as small stones, grit, road salt, or sand) between brake disc and brake pad. Discs are covered with rust. Rust can form when the vehicle has not been driven for a long period of time. Discs are grooved. There is chemical contamination on the braking surface of the brake disc due to wheel or tire cleaner being sprayed directly onto the brake disc. There are ?pad marks? on the brake disc as a result of brake pad material transferring to the discs. Pad marks can occur when a vehicle has been parked for long periods of time in a wet or snowy environment. |
| Dealer Letter - | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. PARKING BRAKE; LANE DEPARTURE. This communication is to inform you of Update 97Y7. | A461226 2031135- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. LANE DEPARTURE; PARKING BRAKE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The customer may state the yellow warning for electric parking brake (EPB) appeared once in the instrument cluster, but the warning turned OFF after cycling the ignition and there have been no additional occurrences. The customer may state the adaptive cruise control (ACC) was inoperative once, but resumed operating properly after cycling the ignition and there have been no additional occurrences. DTC is stored in the EPB module. Internal code Param_InterFaultID 24 or 25 may be in the extended environmental conditions. The concern is due to a software glitch in the EPB control module. Concerns related to this software glitch can only occur once. Replacing the EPB module may cause an additional occurrence. |
