# Recalls that may apply to the 2000 Audi A6

A recall listed here may apply to a vehicle of this year, make and model. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle: check the VIN with the official lookups.

## United States (NHTSA), as of 2026-10-19

- [20V056000](/recalls/nhtsa/20V056000.md), 2020-01-31: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. \(VW\) is recalling certain 2000\-2001 TT Roadster, 2000 TT Coupe, 1999 Audi A8, 1998\-2000 Audi A6, and 1999\-2000 Audi A4 vehicles equipped with Non\-Azide Driver air bag Inflators \(NADI\) that do not contain phase stabilized ammonium nitrate \(PSAN\) propellant. Due to a manufacturing issue, the NADI inflators may absorb moisture, possibly causing the air bag to deploy improperly in the event of a crash.
- [06V198000](/recalls/nhtsa/06V198000.md), 2006-06-05: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH HALOGEN LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS, CERTAIN CONNECTOR PINS IN THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH CONNECTOR COME INTO CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER CAUSING A SHORT CIRCUIT. NOTE: VEHICLES WITH XENON LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT AFFECTED BECAUSE THE CIRCUIT IN THESE VEHICLES CONTAINS A FUSE, WHICH PRECLUDES EXCESSIVE CURRENT FLOW IN THE CASE OF A SHORT CIRCUIT. AUDI S6 AND S6 AVANT VEHICLES ARE ALL EQUIPPED WITH XENON LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS AND, THEREFORE, ARE NOT LONGER AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL. Built 1997\-08\-01 to 2000\-05\-31.
- [04V133000](/recalls/nhtsa/04V133000.md), 2004-03-18: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, IF A DRIVER'S KNEES PUSH AGAINST THE KNEE BOLSTER \(CRASH ELEMENT\) LOCATED UNDER THE DASHBOARD, IT CAN CONTACT THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH WIRING HARNESS, AND AN ELECTRICAL SHORT COULD OCCUR. Built 1997\-08\-14 to 2004\-02\-12.
- [01V157000](/recalls/nhtsa/01V157000.md), 2001-05-03: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. SULFUR IN FUEL INTERACTS WITH CERTAIN ADDITIVES FOUND IN WIDELY AVAILABLE GASOLINE CAUSING SULFUR TO BECOME DEPOSITED ON THE CONTACT POINTS OF THREE FUEL SENDING UNITS MOUNTED INSIDE THE FUEL TANK. THIS COULD CAUSE THE FUEL GAUGE TO READ FULL WHILE THE FUEL TANK MAY NOT IN FACT BE FULL OR COULD BE EMPTY. Built 1997\-08\-14 to 2000\-11\-15.

## Canada (Transport Canada), as of 2026-10-19

- [2006152](/recalls/tc/2006152.md), 2006-06-15: Electrical. On certain vehicles, if a plastic cover is not securely installed to the drivers\-side support crossmember, the headlight switch wiring harness could short out on the crossmember and cause a fire. Note: Further evaluation revealed that only U.S. vehicles are affected. Canadian\-market vehicles are equipped with a different headlamp switch wiring harness which includes Daytime Running Lights \(DRL\). As a result Canadian vehicles will not experience this type of electrical wiring problem, therefore the recall is cancelled.
- [2004095](/recalls/tc/2004095.md), 2004-03-16: Electrical. On certain Audi S6, A6 and A6 Allroad Quattro, contact between the left driver's side crash element and the headlight switch wiring harness could eventually result in an electrical short. Even though such an electrical short is not very likely, it could result, in a worst\-case scenario, in a fire originating in the left dashboard area. Correction: Dealer will install a protective covering on the crash element and inspect the wiring harness for damage.
- [2000132](/recalls/tc/2000132.md), 2000-06-16: Fuel System. On certain Audi A6 Quattro, sulphur in the fuel interacting with certain additives found in widely available fuel can become deposited on certain contact points on three sending units mounted inside the fuel tank. Low electrical resistance at contact points of any unit signals that the tank is full. The accumulation of sulphur deposits on contacts would increase the resistance and erroneously signal that the tank is filled with fuel while in fact it may not be full or could be empty. If a driver is not cognizant of the miles driven and the potential driving range of their vehicle from a fuel fill, the erroneous fuel level signal could cause the vehicle to become inoperable without prior warning. Correction: Fuel sending units will be replaced with redesigned sending units.
