Service bulletins for the 2012 Audi A3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Drivability concerns such as hard starting/no starting are present. Outside temperature is sub-freezing. In tank, fuel pump may be making a straining noise.
A011455 2036169-2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP. The MIL is on. DTC P0087 may be stored in the ECM. Drivability concerns such as hard starting/no starting are present. Outside temperature is sub-freezing. In tank, fuel pump may be making a straining noise. Diesel fuel requires additive blending or ?winterization? to be useable at low temperatures. At temperatures below 20° F (-7° C), No. 2 Diesel with insufficient winterization blending may lose its fluidity due to wax separation. This may clog the fuel filter or in-tank filter, preventing the engine from operating properly. No. 2 Diesel is blended by refineries to various levels of winterization (minimum useable temperature) based on month, geographical location, and the 10th percentile minimum ambient air temperature for the given region. Although rare, during sudden periods of extreme low temperatures (record lows), fuel stations may not be adequately prepared with No. 2 Diesel fuel with sufficient winterization to resist wax formation or ?gelling?.
Reference-Oil Ca2017-11-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. This document contains the Audi oil capacity chart.
A871346 2035582-2017-11-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. The A/C Compressor has been diagnosed as faulty and will be replaced under warranty. When performing replacement of an A/C Compressor under warranty, the amount of refrigerant and oil recovered must be documented.
Campaign Circula2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Owner manual supplement information added. As diesel engine passenger vehicles become more popular, auto manufacturers have seen an increase in the number of misfueling cases where diesel engine vehicles are mistakenly fueled with gasoline. The resulting fuel system contamination can lead to costly repairs that are not covered under warranty. As an additional safeguard to help prevent a gasoline fuel pump nozzle from being used to fuel a TDI® Clean Diesel engine vehicle, dealers will install a misfueling guard in the fuel filler neck of vehicles affected by this action. Additionally, a new fuel filler neck cap will also be installed. Please note: The misfueling guard is designed to prevent a gasoline fuel pump nozzle from entering a vehicle?s fuel filler neck, thereby reducing the risk of fuel system contamination from gasoline. Even with this guard installed, remind anyone who refuels the vehicle that it requires diesel fuel, and to double-check the fuel pump to ensure the correct fuel is selected before filling the tank.
A101310 2018288-2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 10 number 10-02 dated September 14, 2010. Prior to engine replacement, any debris lodged in transferred assemblies must be removed. If the vehicle's engine experienced a serious mechanical problem, it is possible that small pieces of metal debris resulting from the mechanical problem may have become deposited in the intake manifold, air intake hoses, exhaust manifolds, exhaust down-pipes, turbocharger, supercharger, and/or intercooler. If these pieces are not removed prior to the installation and operation of the replacement engine, the pieces may be drawn into the combustion chamber, which can cause a knocking noise and subsequent serious engine damage.
A011329 2033223-2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 13-73 dated March 7, 2013. The engine warning light is on after engine replacement. The engine is not running roughly. However, the engine control module, J623 (01), is storing one or more of the following engine misfire fault codes: DTCs P0300 - P0304. The fault codes occur at light load, between 8% and 14% accelerator pedal position. The programmed values for the misfiring recognition are not automatically reset by deleting the memory once.
Executive Servic2017-10-27. Service bulletin. STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST:POWER STEERING FLUID; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FLUID; POWER TRAIN; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. This document contains a fluid capacity chart as well as a chart that contains the parts and part numbers needed for service.
A171563 2038129-2017-10-27. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 17 number 14-53 dated November 7, 2014. A check with the engine oil service dipstick T40178 is necessary, but the adjustment values for the dipstick are not available in the Elsa repair manual. Because of a system change, the adjustment values for the service dipstick T40178 were removed from the repair manual.
A011524 2040491-2017-10-25. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. The MIL is on. "Coolant System: Fault Turn Off Engine" and the coolant symbol appears in the information panel. DTC P1B1C00 is stored in the ECM.

Campaign Circula2017-10-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. The vehicle's engine management software has been improved to assure the vehicle's tailpipe emissions are optimized and operating efficiently. Under certain operating conditions, the earlier strategy may have increased the chance of the vehicle's MIL light illuminating. If the MIL illuminates for any reason, the vehicle will not pass an IM emissions inspection in some regions. ECM software update needed.
