Service bulletins for the 2011 Audi A3
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A911302 2018187- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11-20 dated October 21, 2011. Customer may report that cracking, grinding, rattling, humming, whining, or similar interference is coming from one or more speakers. Parts of the speakers (such as the brackets, cables, or covers) or parts of the interior fittings (such as door covers, rear shelf, facings, or covers) can vibrate at certain frequencies, causing noises. The radio tuner or other control modules may be affected by electromagnetic interference from aftermarket electronic devices. |
| AWA-13-08 | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Audi has determined that, under specific conditions a faulty intake manifold may cause the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument cluster to illuminate due to the presence of specific fault codes caused by this component. The MIL is part of the on-board diagnostic system. Please refer to the owner's manual for additional information about the MIL. In some locales, an illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp could cause the vehicle to fail an IM emissions inspection, and the vehicle registration application could be denied. Be aware that other conditions (unrelated to the issue described in this bulletin) may cause the MIL in the vehicle to illuminate. Customers should be prepared to cover all diagnosis and repair costs for these other, unrelated conditions. This warranty extension covers only the diagnosis and replacement of the intake manifold. |
| AWA-13-09 | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM. Audi has determined that a faulty fuel injector may cause minor misfire conditions and, in turn, cause the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument cluster to illuminate due to the presence of specific fault codes caused by this component. Please note that it is highly unlikely that the vehicle will experience an issue with multiple fuel injectors at the same time. This warranty extension covers only the diagnosis and replacement of a faulty fuel injector. |
| Dealer Letter - | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Effective immediately, the work procedure for Service Action 20U3 has been revised to include an owner supplement that must be provided to customers upon completion of this repair. An allocation of supplements has been sent to your dealership. If you need additional copies, please see the revised campaign circular for ordering instructions. An updated campaign circular has been posted to ServiceNet and will be visible in ElsaWeb shortly. |
| A911393 2034784- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Some telephone numbers that were downloaded via Bluetooth® are stored with additional, unrelated numbers that do not appear in the contact on the customer"s cellular phone. These telephone numbers are displayed incorrectly on the radio display. The software incorrectly stores the downloaded phone numbers. |
| A911395 2034511- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM). DTC 02261 (Data medium - Faulty) is sporadically set in the navigation control module, J401 (address word 37). The vehicle has the MY2014 navigation database installed. The DVD label should read "Version 2013/2014". If the DTC is static, or if there are functional issues with the navigation system, this bulletin does not apply. A change in the MY2014 navigation software is causing the RNS-E unit to trigger this DTC. |
| A961367 2019260- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 12-37 dated June 11, 2012. The customer may report that the handheld transmitter cannot be programmed to the garage door opener control module, J530. The customer's door opener system may not be compatible with J530. The battery in the handheld transmitter may be too weak for a good signal. The battery charge may be sufficient to operate the garage door opener, but not enough to program the remote transmitter to the vehicle system. In A4 Model Years 2005 - 2006 and A3 Model Year 2009, the actual location of the garage door opener control module differs from the location shown in the owner's manual (opposite side of front bumper). The customer may misunderstand the programming procedure, particularly if the customer's HomeLink® opener system is using an alternate code. The handheld transmitter's programming function may become inoperative, or the transmitter is too far away from J530. Interference prevents the communication between handheld transmitter and J530. If the vehicle flashes during the programming of a handheld transmitter, this does not necessarily indicate that the programming was successful; it only indicates that the vehicle has recognized and saved a signal. |
| A911392 2030947- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated September 25, 2012. The customer complains that when he or she is trying to place a phone call from the vehicle while using a Bluetooth®-connected phone, the phone call disconnects before it begins and an error shows on the MMI display. The message may be "Function not supported" or "Network error". The customer is using a phone with the Android operating system. In addition, Skype®, or another network-based communication software, is installed on the phone. Call can be placed directly from the phone without a problem. When the phone gets the request to place a call from the vehicle, a prompt appears on the phone asking the user to choose how the call should be placed. If the prompt is ignored, the MMI system disconnects the call assuming the phone is not responding. |
| A901339 2026756- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11-27 dated August 4, 2011. The service interval display cannot be reset. If the service interval display is reset under the menu point Service Work in Guided Functions or Guided Fault Finding, the counter for the mileage and time-related service may not be reset. Therefore, Service due or Service! is still shown. |
| A461347 2034387- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; PARKING BRAKE. Customer may report sporadically hearing the parking brake being actuated after the vehicle has been switched off. If the customer does not identify the sound as the sound of the parking brake being actuated, he or she may simply complain of hearing noises from the rear brakes. Ignition is switched off. Steering is locked. Park is selected. Parking brake is not engaged. If the electro-mechanical parking brake is not operated for some time, the free play between brake pads and brake discs increases because of normal brake pad wear. The parking brake control unit performs an automatic correction about every 621 miles (1,000 km). On A8 models, the brake pad thickness is also calculated. |
| A371309 2028715- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 37 number 12-40 dated February 28, 2012. Rough gear changes, both when accelerating and when slowing down. There is a rough driving power disruption that occurs sporadically and lasts for less than a second. After a mechatronics, torque converter, or complete gearbox replacement, the clutches must be adapted to the new component. This requires a gradual move of the clutch linings toward the optimal operating points in the most diverse load conditions. As a result, sporadic driving power disruptions lasting for less than a second or reduced shift comfort are possible over the first 500 miles. This is normal, and these issues will decrease over time. The issues can also occur if the adaptation values of the gearbox were deleted. |
| A171340 2034550- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. DTC 00003 (Control Module - no or incorrect basic setting/adaptation) is stored in the instrument cluster control module, J285 (address word 17). It may be present following a reset of the Service Reminder Interval. There are no functional issues with the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster is pre-programmed to allow a maximum service interval of 15,000 kilometers, and checks to see that this value is not exceeded. The US market uses a service interval of 10,000 miles, which is equal to 16,000 kilometers. Because this value is higher than the maximum allowed service interval, the discrepancy causes the DTC to set. |
| Dealer Letter - | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER; ENGINE. Due to Illinois state tax incentives for biofuels, biodiesel blends of B5 or less may not be available in the State of Illinois. Because Audi supports the development and use of renewable fuels (such as biodiesel fuel blends), customers with 2009-2013 MY Audi TDI® Clean Diesel Engine vehicles registered in the State of Illinois only will receive a communication on or about February 21, 2013 regarding the use of biodiesel fuel blends in their vehicles. Audi will continue to honor the terms and conditions of Audi Limited Warranties that came with these vehicles. Please refer to Warranty Policies & Procedures Bulletin AWA 13-01 for additional information. |
| AWA-13-01 | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. This Warranty Bulletin is applicable to certain 2009MY and forward Audi TDI® Clean Diesel Engine vehicles (with Engine Codes CATA, CBEA, or CNRB) registered in the State of Illinois only. |
| ATE-13-05 | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. VWGoA is pleased to inform you of the release and automatic delivery of new Required Special Tools used on Audi vehicles. Starting March 25, 2013, every Audi dealer will be shipped one AT-348 Special Tool Package, Freight F.O.B. | A911374 2024323- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION: CAMERA SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated October 1, 2012. Parking aid sporadically warns of obstacles when none exist. Parking aid is inoperative or provides constant warning. Various parking aid sensor fitting issues. Environmental conditions. |
| A571382 2017082- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 11-55 dated August 22, 2011. Central locking via remote control does not work either sporadically or permanently. The locks can still be operated manually. Missing synchronization between the remote control key and vehicle because the battery has been disconnected or the battery of the remote control has been replaced. If other senders operate in the same frequency range (mobile phones, TV stations, wireless headphones, baby monitors, other vehicle remote controls, etc.), the remote control key may have been temporarily switched off because a clear identification of the remote control key is not possible. This is necessary to prevent an unintentional unlocking of the vehicle by other unrelated senders. |
| A481337 20211894 | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. STEERING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 48 number 11-17 dated October 21, 2011. Steering feels stiff after engine start on vehicles with generation 3 steering. Incorrect software. |
| A441336 2022563- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 13-35 dated January 18, 2013. Customer feels vibration from 55 - 80 mph (88 - 128 km/h) in the seat, vehicle floor, footwell, pedals, or steering wheel. This condition does not result in any handling concerns or loss of vehicle control. |
| A461335 2017130- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 11-16 dated December 9, 2011. Customer complains of brake squeal. |
| A011386 2033630- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ENGINE. MIL on. Rough idle. DTCs are stored in the Engine Control Module (ECM), J623 (address word 01). Engine may have reduced performance without significant loss of power or stalling. Because there are a number of different misfire faults (unrelated to ignition coil operation) that could cause the MIL to illuminate, proper Guided Fault Finding (GFF) misfire diagnosis must be followed before any ignition coils are replaced. |
| A001348 2002047- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 00 number 11-19 dated April 8, 2011. This TSB contains information on technician preparation when calling the Audi Technical Assistance Center |
| A011373 2033223- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. The engine warning light is on after engine replacement. The engine is not running roughly. However, the engine control module, J623 (01), is storing one or more of the following engine misfire fault codes: DTCs P0300 - P0304. The fault codes occur at light load, between 8% and 14% accelerator pedal position. The programmed values for the misfiring recognition are not automatically reset by deleting the memory once. |
| A011377 2033356- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. MIL on. DTCs are stored in the engine control module (ECM), J623. Water and road salt can corrode the exhaust flap shaft causing it to stick in open / closed position. |
The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
