Service bulletin 002311

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

THIS BULLETIN STATES THAT IF THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WIRES ARE NOT TIE STRAPPED CORRECTLY, IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE WIRE TO CONTACT THE WHEEL AND / OR BRAKE DRUM. IF THE WIRE THEN BECOMES CHAFED, A FALSE SINGLE MAY BE SENT TO THE ABS ELECTRONIC CONTROLLER. THE CONTROLLER MAY THEN MISINTERPRET THESE SIGNALS AND FALSELY DETERMINE THAT THE WHEEL IS ROTATING AT A DIFFERENT SPEED THAN IT ACTUALLY IS. THIS MAY RESULT IN UNWANTED ABS ACTIVATION. *TT
