SUBJECT REGARDING VEHICLE EMISSIONS RECALL CAMPAIGN D215. PERFORMANCE VERIFICATION OF THE ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM OF 1997 MODEL YEAR LAND ROVER VEHICLES HAS REVEALED THAT THE PURGE FLOW DIAGNOSTIC FOR THE AFFECTED VEHICLES DOES NOT STORE A FAULT CODE AND ILLUMINATE THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT (MIL) WHEN A FAULT IS DETECTED. AN INVESTIGATION HAS SHOWN THAT ALTHOUGH THE DIAGNOSTIC IS RUNNING CORRECTLY, THE FAULT INFORMATION IS NOT PROCESSED BY THE SYSTEM'S FAULT MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE.
