Service bulletin SSM 55229

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Some 2025-2027 Navigator vehicles equipped with a second row floor console may experience a sliding cover over the cup holders that has become separated. Engineering is aware of this condition and is investigating a service solution that will enhance the performance of the cup holder slider. This solution is expected to be available by the end of Q1 2027. If the customer is not willing to wait for the enhanced service solution, replacement of the second row floor console cup holder assembly is acceptable. Note that the replacement of the cup holder assembly will have similar performance attributes for the slider as the original cup holder assembly that is being replaced. Should the customer choose to wait for the enhanced service solution, schedule an appointment with the customer when the repair is made available in Q1 2027. Monitor Professional Technician System (PTS) for updates.

SSM 551682026-09-15. Service bulletin. Some 2027 Expedition/Navigator vehicles equipped with power running boards may exhibit an intermittent condition where the power running boards are unable to deploy or retract with a "Power Running Board Fault" message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) C1008:15 and/or C1009:15 may be stored in the driver seat module (DSM). DTC U0208 and/or U0244 may also be stored in various other modules. Other DSM functions may be affected such as heated/cooled/memory seats. This may be due to the software in the DSM.<br /><br /> If the DSM does not respond during a network test, press the power seat adjustment switch then re-run the network test to see if DSM communication is restored. Engineering requires feedback for this action. Submit a Global Concern Report (GCR) indicating if DSM communication was restored after actuating the power seat adjustment switch, noting the DTCs present. To submit a report, click on the "Submit Global Concern Report (GCR)" link at the upper right of the Professional Technician System (PTS) Vehicle ID screen (vehicle identification number ÝVIN¨ requi
SSM 551072026-09-01. Service bulletin. Some 2027 Expedition/Navigator vehicles equipped with power running boards may exhibit an intermittent condition where the power running boards are unable to deploy or retract when entering or exiting the vehicle with a "Power Running Board Fault" message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). This may be due to the software in the driver front seat module (DSM). Replacing components and reprogramming software will not resolve this issue. Inform customers that engineering is currently working on a software solution for this condition that is expected to be available by Q4 2026. If a vehicle comes in for this condition, inform the customer that powering the vehicle off for 5 minutes with all of the doors closed will temporarily restore operation of the power running boards. Once available, software will update automatically if vehicle connectivity is enabled in the vehicles settings. Schedule a service visit for customers who have disabled vehicle connectivity or who report that they did not receive the update by November 2026. Monitor Professional Technician System (PTS) for additional information and
SSM 550052026-07-14. Service bulletin. 2025-2026 Expedition/Navigator vehicles equipped with power running boards do not deploy the running boards in auto mode when the easy entry/exit setting for "Approach Detection" is toggled on. This is a change from prior models. Currently, easy entry/exit settings in the vehicle's center display screen incorrectly indicates that power running boards will deploy during approach detection in auto mode. This will be corrected in a future Digital Experience over-the-air (OTA) update which will begin deploying in mid Q3, 2026. The Workshop Manual (WSM) and Owner's Manual have been corrected to explain proper operation of power running boards.

SSM 549102026-06-15. Service bulletin. Some 2025-2026 Expedition/Navigator vehicles equipped with one-touch up/down front windows may exhibit a condition where a front window does not respond to one-touch controls, does not open all the way and/or bounces back when using the one-touch close function. Advise the customers that driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) software updates are currently being delivered to vehicles over-the-air (OTA), which are expected to resolve these symptoms. It is important to advise the customer to select the automatic updates option in the settings menu to enable automatic updates and/or approve prompts to download or install updates if automatic updates are purposely disabled. Monitor Professional Technician System (PTS) for additional information.
SSM 548882026-06-09. Service bulletin. Some 2025-2026 Expedition/Navigator vehicles built on or before 10-Mar-2026 and equipped with power autofold exterior mirrors may exhibit concerns with the passenger mirror not automatically folding in or out at times, while the driver side mirror automatically folds properly. This may be due to the software in the driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM). To correct the condition, reprogram the DDM and PDM using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 14B291 and labor operation MT14B291SSM up to 0.4 hours.
SSM 548002026-05-14. Service bulletin. Some 2025-2026 Explorer/Aviator and 2026 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may exhibit an intermittent inoperative remote start feature using either the key fobs or the Ford/Lincoln App. This may be due to the software in the body control module (BCM). After replicating the concern, use the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) to monitor the RMTSTRT_F_ARB_LST and RMTSTRT_F_TRGT_NM parameter identification (PIDS) in the BCM. If both PID values show "true" in any of the last 5 saved values, engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in Q4 2026. Schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available. If either of the BCM PID values do not show "true" in any of the saved values, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-14 Handles, Locks, Latches, Entry Systems > Diagnosis and Testing > Locks, Latches and Entry Systems > Pinpoint Test R (Explorer/Aviator)/Pinpoint Test V (Expedition/Navigator) for normal diagnostics and repair as necessary outside of this article. For claiming, use causal part 15604 and labor operations 12651D and 12651D45

TSB 26-21902026-04-28. Service bulletin. This bulletin supersedes 26-2154 to update the labor operation numbers. Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit a concern where both the liftgate and tailgate open when commanded by the fob when the liftgate only opening feature is enabled through the touchscreen controls. This may be due to the software in the rear gate trunk module (RGTM).
