## NHTSA's summary

Mercedes\-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes\-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain subject vehicles, the transmission control unit \(VGS\) in the automatic transmission does not meet current MBAG specifications. The polarities of the magnets in the transmission control unit \(VGS\) may have been inadvertently swapped. This, in turn, could lead to complaints regarding shift quality and gear lockups. Remedy MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes\-Benz dealer will replace fully integrated transmission control unit \(Y3/8n4\) for the automatic transmission.
