Service bulletin SSM 54828

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Some 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus vehicles built on or before 17-Jul-2025 and equipped with continuous controlled damping (CCD) suspension (feature code DWAA9) may exhibit a clunk, rattle, knock, or thump noise from the rear suspension over bumps at lower speeds. To confirm a vehicle is built with a certain minor feature code, review the build information by clicking "Additional Information" under Vehicle ID Tab > Vehicle Information, or double-clicking the vehicle identification number (VIN) in the upper left corner on Professional Technician System (PTS). In some instances, the noise can be reproduced by a jounce test of the rear suspension on a level surface. This may be due to a concern with the rear shock absorbers. If a noise is confirmed from the rear shock absorbers, replace both shock absorbers. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 204-02 > Removal and Installation > Rear Shock Absorber. For claiming, use causal part 18125 and labor operation 18125AT.

24P072024-05-02. Service bulletin. Certain 2024 Model Year Lincoln Nautilus Rear Shock Absorber Inspection
SSM 522062024-01-30. Service bulletin. Some 2024 Lincoln Nautilus vehicles equipped with the Reserve and Black Label packages may exhibit a knocking noise from the rear shock absorber area of the vehicle while driving at speeds between 8 mph and 19 mph (13 km/h and 30 km/h) on rough road surfaces or when going over bumps. If the concern is isolated to the rear shock absorber assembly, replacing it at this time is unlikely to resolve the concern and is not recommended. This concern has no effect on vehicle operation or durability and is currently under investigation. Repair direction is expected late Q1 2024. Schedule a service appointment for this timeframe and monitor OASIS for additional information.
