Warranty extension EW-Fuel Filter Unit(PZEV)

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

In our continuing efforts to assure the proper performance of Mercedes-Benz products and to enhance the satisfaction of our customers, Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (“MBUSA”) is extending the warranty coverage on the fuel filter unit in certain Model Year (“MY”) vehicles certified as Partial Zero Emission Vehicles (PZEV) listed below from the original New Vehicle Limited Warranty of 4 years/50,000 miles to 15 years/150,000 miles (whichever occurs first). This warranty extension includes the replacement of the PZEV fuel filter unit due to potential fuel seepage from the fuel filter flange that could result in fuel odor and/or an activation of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (“MIL”). Note that due to the nature of the fuel seepage and the distance to hot components, a risk of fire can be ruled out. This extended limited warranty applies to all aforementioned conditions that necessitate the servicing and or replacement of the PZEV fuel filter unit under the standard warranty terms and conditions.
