Service bulletin LI54.10-P-073164
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary
Complaint Yellow information message in driver display (instrument cluster): "Switch on motor to charge the 12V battery" Cause The state of charge (SOC) of the 12V battery has dropped to 45% or less. Remedy This warning message appears as soon as the state of charge (SOC) of the 12V primary battery drops below 45%. This message is displayed to safeguard the vehicle's starting ability. At the same time as the display appears in the instrument cluster, customers with a linked Mercedes me connect account also receive a push notification via the app/by email (if this function is activated). The battery must be charged to a state of charge (SOC) of at least 50%. To do this, an external charger can be connected (please comply with AR54.10-P-1133S) or the vehicle can be driven (by the customer) for 30 to 60 minutes. Please make customers aware of how the vehicle behaves: • If the vehicle is used for short journeys, the battery state of charge may slowly drop to less than 45% – a negative charge balance • A negative charge balance will also occur if the vehicle is used while stationary without running the engine, e.g. if the head unit is used, the ignition is switched on, or other comfort & convenience power consumers, e.g. seat heating/seat ventilation, are active. • An unlocked vehicle may increase consumption, because certain vehicle functions are actively kept ready for the customer. In combination with Keyless-Go or flush-mounted door handles, the vehicle may be woken up if the vehicle key is detected in the vicinity of the vehicle. The cause of the discharge can be identified with the aid of the onboard electrical system data in the EZS using XENTRY Diagnosis. See attached examples for identifying typical customer situations (e.g. operation with ignition on, operation of head unit while stationary or vehicle unlocked while parked). Vehicles with code B01+801: When charging while stationary, the 48V battery must have a state of charge (SOC) of 70% before the 12V primary battery, or the secondary battery in the case of code 503, can be charged. To ensure optimum battery care, please also comply with the existing Service Information documents regarding the handling of stock vehicles (SI54.10-P-0024A) and on remaining in transport mode (SI54.00-P-0004A) until immediately before handover to end customers. Special note: Do not replace any parts, if the message has occurred due to battery discharge as a result of the driving profile or the ignition being switched on (see attached examples); in such cases separate warranty and goodwill invoicing is not possible, as this is a normal on-board electrical system protection function. Likewise battery care and recharging do not qualify as a W&G case. Please advise customers accordingly regarding the above-mentioned issues relating to vehicle use.

| LI54.10-P-080880 | 2026-08-14. Service bulletin. Complaint Customer Complaint: - AC charging is not possible. - The departure time, charging pause, location-based charging or target SOC limit is automatically set to 50% or to a random value in the Mercedes me application or in the charging settings on the head unit display. (Picture 1 & 3) - Incorrect notifications appear in the Mercedes me application for charging-related functions. (Picture 2) Related DTCs in quick test: No related fault codes (DTCs) are stored in the relevant control units. CPC3 - N127 (Drivetrain control unit) OBL223_GEN4 - N83/11 (Alternating current charger for high-voltage battery) DCB223 - N116/5 - Direct current charge connection unit (DCCU) Picture1 The target SOC limit is automatically set to 50% or any random values during charging. Picture 2 Incorrect notification Example “Unable to unlock charging cable. Picture 3 Incorrect settings of charge interruption or pause. (If applicable) Cause - The Customer shares their Mercedes me credentials (password) with a third-party application, for example, a wall box application. This causes the Mercedes Benz backend server to receive random requests to reset the maximum SOC, departure time, charging pause, etc. - Charging settings are set incorrectly, for example, incorrect departure time, charging program, charging interruption/ pause, etc. Remedy The remedies below may vary depending on the customer complaint. Refer to the remedy that best matches the customer complaint. Remedy 1: The target SOC limit is automatically set to 50% or to random values during charging. - Change the Mercedes me login password on the Mercedes me homepage. (My Account > Login and Security > Reset). (Refer to Annex 1). Previously granted authorizations should then be revoked so that the charging settings can no longer be changed by external applications. Advise customers not to share the new password again. - Are there any sub-users? If yes, revoke their rights and reassess the function. -If differences between the vehicle and the Mercedes me app are visible, a new synchronization is recommended. Turn off Digital Extras through the Mercedes me app or the MMCR portal, and then turn the services on again. Remedy 2: Incorrect notifications in the Mercedes me app for charging-related functions. - Restart synchronization between the app and backend. Turn off Digital Extras through the Mercedes me app or the MMCR portal, and then turn the services on again. (Refer to Annex 2) Remedy 3: Incorrect charge interruption or pause setting. - Perform a factory reset of the head unit (A26/17). (Home > Functions > System > Reset), or turn off/correct all charging settings. | LI46.10-P-078012 | 2026-07-21. Service bulletin. Complaint Hand detection system – malfunction / vehicles with code 266 Fault message in instrument cluster: "Active Emergency Stop Assist not available" "Active Lane Keeping Assist not available" "Active steering assist not available" Cause Possible causes: Hand detection mat, hand detection control unit, contacts, and electrical feed line. Remedy In the event of a customer complaint and fault code in IDC control unit: U186B29 in IDC223 or fault code U0429E0, U042941, U042929, U042902, U0429E1 in IDC213 or fault code in HOSWD control unit: B1E7614 Check: Please do not replace the HOSWD control unit. Please flash the new SW and perform the SCN coding for the HOSWD control unit (N179/1) (available from July 2026). The software can be flashed onto all HOSWD213 with HW number A0009011522 and all HOSWD223 with HW number A0009011422. Please also flash the SW for the IDC control unit (N62/4), if possible (only applies to HOSWD223). Erase fault memory Remedy: Turn on the ignition or start the engine without touching the steering wheel. If, after 10 seconds without touching the steering wheel, one of the three fault messages appears on the instrument cluster: Check the contacts and feed lines in the steering wheel by means of a visual inspection for damage, crimp connections, loose connections, etc. (example in picture 2 and 3). If there is visible damage -> replace the steering wheel electronics or the feed lines. If there is not any visible damage -> replace the steering wheel rim. If a yellow message does not appear on the instrument cluster within 10 seconds: Grasp the steering wheel fully with both hands, including the chrome molding at the 6 o'clock position (see picture 1). If the fault is triggered by grasping the steering wheel rim or pressing the clip at the 6 o'clock position, check the contacts and feed lines in the steering wheel by means of a visual inspection for damage, kinked connections, loose connections, etc. (example in picture 2 and 3). Check the ground connections (screw connections and cables to the steering wheel rim); if necessary, retighten the screws/bolts and check for corrosion (picture 4). If there is visible damage -> replace the steering wheel electronics or the feed lines. If there is not any visible damage: Replace the steering wheel rim. Please do not replace the HOSWD control unit. A TIPS case should be created if fault profile is unclear. In the event of a customer complaint and a further fault code in HOSWD: B1E7713: Check the ground connections (screw connections and cables to the steering wheel rim); if necessary, retighten the screws/bolts and check for corrosion (picture 4). B1F1F04: Check the control unit of the hand detection system; if necessary, replace this with the control unit from a donor vehicle (make sure that the hardware part numbers are identical). |
