Warranty extension EW - HV AC Compressor

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

In our continuing efforts to ensure the proper performance of Mercedes-Benz products and to enhance the satisfaction of our customers, Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC is extending the warranty coverage on the High Voltage (HV) AC Compressor in certain Model Year (MY) vehicles listed below from the original New Vehicle Limited Warranty of 4 years/50,000 miles to 8 years/unlimited miles, whichever occurs first, relating to the following condition: • A malfunctioning HV AC compressor can cause electrical insulation to fail. This failure may lead to Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) being recorded and can trigger the illumination of the Check Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (“MIL”). A warning message may also be displayed (e.g., “check High-Voltage system”, battery symbol with text “malfunction”, “visit workshop without restarting”) in the instrument cluster. Electric driving is possible. However, if the driver ignores the “visit workshop without restarting” message and switches off the vehicle, it would no longer be able to start.
