# Service bulletin TSB\_ELE400

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: SERVICE ACTION: PDW OPERATION LOGIC IMPROVEMENT \(SA629\) \- This bulletin provides instructions for upgrading the Body Domain Controller \(BDC\) system on select 2026MY Sportage \(NQ5a\) and Sportage P/HEV \(NQ5 P/HEV\) vehicles, as listed in the table below. In some cases, intermittent normal operation of the Parking Detection Warning \(PDW\) feature may occur due to unstable communication between the BDC and peripheral Integrated Circuits \(IC\). The upgrade addresses this issue by improving signal integrity and reducing the likelihood of communication disruptions.

- [PS797](/bulletins/11026698.md), 2025-12-18, Other: BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS. PITSTOP: TECHNICAL OPERATIONS: EXTERNAL DAMAGE TO ULTRASONIC SENSOR: This Pitstop provides information related to Parking Distance Warning \(PDW\) alerts and repairs involving ultrasonic sensors. The PDW system alerts the driver while parking, by calculating distance based on the difference in signal transmission and reception times between the vehicle \(ultrasonic sensor\) and an object. The membrane film of the ultrasonic sensor is used for object detention and can be damaged by stone chips or foreign substances while driving. Damage to the cover of the ultrasonic sensor can also lead to damage to the internal circuit. As a result of this external damage, the PDW system may not receive the proper signal from the ultrasonic sensor. In some cases, the system may cause a false alarm, no alert, or phantom warnings by a “Warning Lamp’ to be displayed on the cluster. The ultrasonic sensor membrane film should be always inspected for external damage and if any part replacement should be treated as a general repair, not as a warranty claim repair for this concern. \(Please note that this Pitstop only applies to models/trims that are equipped with the ultrasonic sensors.\)

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN PDW OPERATION LOGIC IMPROVEMENT \(SC350\) \- This bulletin SC350, superseded the previously released TSB ELE400/SA629. This bulletin provides instructions for upgrading the Body Domain Controller \(BDC\) system on select 2026MY Sportage \(NQ5a\) and Sportage P/HEV \(NQ5 P/HEV\) vehicles listed in the table below. Due to a communication fault within the Body Domain Controller \(BDC\) in the subject vehicles, the Parking Distance Warning \(PDW\) system may operate intermittently. As a result, the PDW system may not trigger warning sounds or display visual warning indications to nearby objects when the vehicle is stopped or driven at low speeds. The upgrade addresses this issue by improving signal integrity and reducing the likelihood of communication disruptions.
