# Service bulletin SSM 54203

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 11023201
- Published by NHTSA: 2025\-09\-18
- Manufacturer's number: SSM 54203

- NHTSA component: ENGINE

## NHTSA's summary

Some 2025 Bronco Sport/Transit vehicles equipped with R\-134a refrigerant systems may exhibit a concern of the air conditioning \(A/C\) blowing warm with a leak detected at the low side service port. This may be due to a concern with the low side service port cap clearance causing the service port valve to open slightly when the cap is fully seated. To correct the condition, discard the old service port cap and service port valve. Install a new service port valve, recharge the system, and install a new low side service port cap using part number DS7Z\-19D702\-B. For claiming, use causal part 19D702 and labor operation 19700A of the Service Labor Time Standards \(SLTS\) Manual.

## Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component

- [SSM 55211](/bulletins/11038163.md), 2026-10-06, Over\-the\-air update: ENGINE; FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. 2023\-2026 Escape and 2025\-2026 Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost engine may require removal of the turbocharger wastegate control actuator linkage for various reasons. The Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 303\-04 Fuel Charging and Controls \- Turbocharger \- 1.5L EcoBoost \> Removal and Installation \> Wastegate Control Actuator Linkage service procedure has been added. In addition, the wastegate control actuator linkage rod with retaining clips \(6K682\) and actuator linkage rubber boot seal \(9E416\) have been released as lower\-level components to complete the repair without replacing the entire turbocharger wastegate control actuator assembly.
- [TSB 26\-2349](/bulletins/11035508.md), 2026-08-03, Service bulletin: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM; ENGINE; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. This bulletin supersedes 25\-2415. Reason for update: To add production build dates of the right\-side engine valve cover. Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit oil consumption and blue smoke from the tailpipe. This may be due to the sealing process of the positive crankcase ventilation \(PCV\) baffle which is part of the valve cover assembly.
- [25B33](/bulletins/11034207.md), 2026-07-01, Other: ENGINE. Certain 2023\-2025 Model Year Escape and Corsair, 2024\-2025 Model Year Nautilus, 2025\-2026 Model Year Bronco Sport and 2025 Model Year Maverick Vehicles Equipped with an Engine Block Heater System Block Heater Replacement
- [TSB 26\-2210](/bulletins/11033573.md), 2026-06-05, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN; ENGINE. Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit all of the following conditions: \* Engine misfire condition \* Illuminated malfunction indicator lamp \(MIL\) with diagnostic trouble codes \(DTC\) P0301, P0302, P0303, and/or P0304 stored in the powertrain control module \(PCM\)
- [SSM 54738](/bulletins/11031302.md), 2026-04-14, Service bulletin: ENGINE; POWER TRAIN. Some 2023\-2025 Escape 1.5L/F\-Super Duty/Transit vehicles may exhibit a lack of cooling from the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning \(HVAC\) system, which may be accompanied by abnormal rattling, grinding and/or squealing noises from the engine compartment. This may be due to damage to the air conditioning \(A/C\) compressor internal components and/or clutch assembly. Confirm ambient air temperature is above approximately 0°C \(32.0°F\). On the HVAC controls, set the temperature to full cold \(not MAX A/C\), select PANEL, set the fan speed to the highest setting and select the A/C button \(indicator on\). If the A/C compressor clutch engages and the A/C compressor is noisy, and/or the belt is slipping on the A/C compressor pulley or the A/C compressor is seized, install a new A/C compressor as indicated in Section 412\-00 of the Workshop Manual \(WSM\). For claiming, use causal part 19703 and labor operation MT19700SSM up to 0.3 hours to check for a damaged compressor. If the compressor requires replacement, claim labor operations 19700A and 19700A4. Also claim available Service Labor Time Standards \(SLTS\) op
- [SSM 54593](/bulletins/11029082.md), 2026-02-27, Service bulletin: ENGINE; POWER TRAIN; FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM. Some 2024\-2025 F\-150, Expedition/Navigator, Escape/Corsair, Bronco, Explorer, Mustang, Maverick vehicles equipped with a 1.5/2.0/2.3/3.5L EcoBoost engine and built on 01\-Oct\-2024 and through 31\-May\-2025 may exhibit an extended crank condition, strong fuel smell in the engine oil, high engine oil level and/or may have various drivability diagnostic trouble codes \(DTCs\) stored in the powertrain control module \(PCM\) with an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp \(MIL\). This may be due to an internal fuel leak of the high\-pressure fuel pump causing fuel to enter the crankcase and reduce fuel pressure in the direct injection fuel rail. Diagnose this condition using Pinpoint Test HP located in Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 303\-04. If no DTCs are stored in the PCM, proceed from Step HP1 to Step HP5 and continue testing. Repair as necessary outside of this article. For claiming, if high\-pressure fuel pump replacement is required, use causal part number 9D376 and labor operation code 9543A. If the root cause is identified as anything other than the fuel injection pump, claim the repair outside of this article.
- [SSM 54540](/bulletins/11028173.md), 2026-02-04, Service bulletin: ENGINE. Some 2025\-2026 Escape/Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost engine may require replacement of the engine thermostat due to various concerns. Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 303\-03A Engine Cooling \> Thermostat Housing \> Removal and Installation has been updated with a revised service procedure eliminating the need to remove the generator assembly to gain access to the thermostat housing.
