# Service bulletin SSM 54142

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 11022149
- Published by NHTSA: 2025\-08\-26
- Manufacturer's number: SSM 54142
- Manufacturer's date: 2025\-08\-19
- NHTSA component: ENGINE; POWER TRAIN; UNKNOWN OR OTHER

## NHTSA's summary

Some 2025 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may experience a whistle/humming noise while driving in hot climates and at speeds above 60 mph \(96 km/h\). This noise can originate from the right side of the instrument panel when the air conditioning \(A/C\) system is ON, recirculation mode ON, and the noise intensity may increase as the blower speed is increased. Inform the customers Ford is aware of the concern and engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected to be published by 30\-Sep\-2025. This concern does not affect vehicle durability and customers can continue to drive the vehicle. Monitor Professional Technician System \(PTS\) for additional information and schedule a service appointment for customers once the repair becomes available.

## Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component

- [SSM 54969](/bulletins/11034142.md), 2026-06-29, Service bulletin: ENGINE; EXTERIOR LIGHTING. Some 2025\-2026 Navigator vehicles may have diagnostic trouble code \(DTC\) B14E4:55 stored in the body control module \(BCM\). The rear turn signals may also flash solid rather than sweeping from inside out when activated. This may be due to replacement of the reversing lamp assembly without performing the "BCM\-Local Interconnect Network \(LIN\) New Module Initialization" application. The Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 417\-01 \> Removal and Installation procedure has been updated. Using the Ford Diagnostic and Repair System \(FDRS\), download and run the "BCM\-Local Interconnect Network \(LIN\) New Module Initialization" application. Follow the diagnostic scan tool directions to address this concern. For claiming use causal part 13B433 and labor operations 12651D and 12651D4.
- [TSB 26\-2263](/bulletins/11033575.md), 2026-06-05, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN. This bulletin supersedes 26\-2112. Reason For Update: add 2026 model year vehicles, update LV fluid XT\-10\-QLVC and CXT\-10\-LV6 description to add "Transfer Case Fluid 4WD Only", and update Step 4 to inspect/replace 7H351 and 7B177 outside of this article. Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit at least one of the following conditions: \- No upshift past second gear \- Unable to achieve third gear ratio \- Illuminated MIL with DTCs P0757 and P2701 This may be due to a damaged one\-way clutch \(OWC\).
- [ITRM\-26.A04 Navigator](/bulletins/11031647.md), 2026-04-28, Over\-the\-air update: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; VISIBILITY/WIPER; POWER TRAIN. 26C10 Recall remedy \-Addresses instances where the trailer lights and trailer brakes may not function
- [TSB 26\-2171](/bulletins/11031490.md), 2026-04-22, Service bulletin: ENGINE. This article updates TSB 25\-2154. Reasons for update: \*Parts List \*Service Procedure to replace the output planetary carrier assembly \*Added 2023\-2024 model year vehicles Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit all of the following conditions: Shudder condition, most noticeable at speeds below 60 mph \(100 km/h\) No relevant diagnostic trouble codes \(DTC\) present Traceable shudder event with IDS/FDRS reading \*\(Figure 1\)\* This condition may be perceived/felt as an engine misfire. This may be due to a concern with the output planetary assembly.
- [PCM\-26.10.0 Navigator](/bulletins/11031370.md), 2026-04-17, Over\-the\-air update: POWER TRAIN. Quality improvements include: \-Updates the Powertrain Control Module documentation to ensure vehicles can receive the latest updates
- [PCM\-26.10.0 Expedition](/bulletins/11031369.md), 2026-04-17, Over\-the\-air update: POWER TRAIN. Quality improvements include: \-Updates the Powertrain Control Module documentation to ensure vehicles can receive the latest updates
- [SSM 54719](/bulletins/11031262.md), 2026-04-10, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN. For 20212026 vehicles equipped with the 10R80 transmission, a new Transmission Clutch Circuit Leak Test has been introduced in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System \(FDRS\). This test utilizes the pressure and vacuum transducer \(PVT\) when available. When referred to a specific clutch \(A\-F\) test by a pinpoint test in Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 307\-01 \> Diagnosis and Testing, the Clutch Assembly tests have been updated with a hyperlink to the new Transmission Line Pressure Test \- Pressure Vacuum Transducer \(PVT\) Is Available procedure in WSM, Section 307\-01 \> General Procedures. This procedure provides instructions to perform the FDRS Transmission Clutch Circuit Leak Test when applicable. The new test improves the accuracy of detecting leaks within transmission fluid circuits and replaces the previous air check method. The previous air check procedure has been shown to produce a high rate of false positives, which may lead to unnecessary repairs when no actual leak is present. Accordingly, the air check procedure is not to be used for diagnosing internal transmission hydraulic leaks or as justification
- [TSB 26\-2023](/bulletins/11031259.md), 2026-04-10, Service bulletin: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM; ENGINE. Some vehicles listed in the Model section above may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp \(MIL\) with diagnostic trouble codes \(DTCs\) P2418:72 and/or P2450 stored in the PCM. This may be due to improperly connected evaporative emission line connections inside the fuel tank.
- [SSM 54674](/bulletins/11030791.md), 2026-04-06, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN. For 2021\-2026 vehicles equipped with the 10R80 transmission, a new Transmission Clutch Circuit Leak Test has been introduced in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System \(FDRS\). This test utilizes the pressure and vacuum transducer \(PVT\) when available. The Workshop Manual \(WSM\) has been updated under Section 307\-01 \> Diagnosis and Testing to include this procedure. The new test improves the accuracy of detecting leaks within transmission fluid circuits and replaces the previous air check method.
- [TSB 26\-2112](/bulletins/11030178.md), 2026-03-23, Service bulletin: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM; UNKNOWN OR OTHER; POWER TRAIN. This bulletin supersedes TSB 26\-2059. Reason For Update: To add missing labor operations. Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit at least one of the following conditions: \- No upshift past second gear \- Unable to achieve third gear ratio \- Illuminated malfunction indicator lamp \(MIL\) with DTCs P0757 and P2701 This may be due to a damaged one\-way clutch \(OWC\).
