Service bulletin 08-001-25

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Some vehicles may experience an airbag system warning light flashing with DTC B1126:1B or B1127:1B. DTC B1126:1B - Driver-side side air bag module circuit resistance high. DTC B1127:1B - Passenger-side side air bag module circuit resistance high. This may be caused by coating on the terminals allowing oxidation. SSPA72017-10-04. Service bulletin. Mazda Motor Corporation is extending the warranty coverage for a specific repair of sophisticated air bag sensor (SAS) unit on certain 2009-2010 Mazda6 vehicles produced from December 15, 2008 through February 25, 2010. The warranty coverage for repair of SAS unit is extended to 15 years (180 months) from the original warranty start date, with no mileage limitation. On certain 2009-2010 Mazda6 vehicles, an internal component inside the SAS unit may be susceptible to corrosion. If the unit fails, the air bag warning light will illuminate to alert the driver of the failure.Continued driving in this condition could prevent the air bags from deploying in a crash necessitating air bag deployment, increasing the risk of injury. The warranty extension applies only to this condition.
