Service bulletin TSB 25-2144

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit one or more of the following conditions that lead to needing to perform the calibration (alignment) procedure on exhaust tailpipe actuators: * An illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and an Exhaust mode not available message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P26FE, P2BFB, P26C5:78, and/or P2BF8:78 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) * A condition/symptom that requires the installation of an exhaust tailpipe actuator when undergoing normal diagnosis and repair * Exhaust tailpipe actuators failing alignment procedure after installation with parameter identification (PID) "EFCV_A_MON_STAT" and/or PID "EFCV_B_MON_STAT" reading "3" * No audible difference in exhaust tone when transitioning between exhaust modes These exhaust tailpipe actuators require alignment after installation. These vehicles may require an update to the PCM prior to attempting exhaust tailpipe actuator alignment.
