Service bulletin AR881

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Complaint: Sway bar design (angles) incorrect near sway bar link bolts. Cause: Design. Correction: Redesigned sway bar by changing angles and length of sway bar. Including new, stronger sway bar link assemblies with bar. The sway bar/links are now engineered together with the correct working angles. Step 1- Raise and support vehicle suitably with suspension and wheels in normal driving position. Step 2- Remove sway bar to frame bolts, nuts, clamps and bushings from bar and save for reinstallation. Step 3- Remove sway bar links from bar. Discard sway bar and links. Step 4- Install new sway bar links (2010847) onto new sway bar (2010657) and attach to lower control arms. Assemble both sides loosely at this time. Step 5- Sway bar is not symmetrical. Orient sway bar so ends bend down towards the sway bar link. Shown below. Step 6- Install sway bar bushings and clamps onto new bar and bolt into place. Torque frame bolts and nuts to spec. See below. Step 7- Torque sway bar link bolts to 15 ft lbs.
