Service bulletin TSB 24-2188
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary
This article supersedes TSB 22-2219 to update the Parts List and Service Procedure to clarify applicable steps by vehicle application. Some 2003-2020 Expedition/Navigator and 2006-2020 F-150 (non-Raptor) vehicles equipped with 4WD may exhibit grinding/clicking/ratcheting noise from the front wheel area. This may be due to partial engagement of the integrated wheel ends (IWE). To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to remove and cap the vacuum supply line or to reprogram the transfer case control module (TCCM) and replace any worn vacuum and/or IWE components.

| SSM 49418 | 2021-01-04. Service bulletin. Some 2020 Expedition/Navigator vehicles built on or after 19-Oct-2020 and equipped with four-wheel drive will keep the integrated wheel end (IWE) hubs engaged under all operating conditions. Although the IWE vacuum solenoid is still present, these vehicles may not be equipped with an electrical connector for the IWE vacuum solenoid. This is a characteristic of the vehicle. Do not attempt any repairs for this condition. |

| TSB 20-2307 | 2020-11-05. Service bulletin. Some 2003-2020 Expedition/Navigator and 2006-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with TOD transfer cases may exhibit grinding/clicking/ratcheting noise from the front wheel area. This may be due to partial engagement of the integrated wheel ends (IWE). To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to remove and cap the vacuum supply line. |
| SSM 48493 | 2020-02-05. Service bulletin. Some 2019 F-150 vehicles built on 1-Mar-2019 and through 31-Oct-2019 with rear axle tag code S-971-M may exhibit a clicking/ticking noise from the left rear of the vehicle while driving at low speeds. The click/ticking noise from the left rear axle wheel end may be caused by a wheel bearing bore surface that is not machined. If no metal contamination is present in the fluid, inspect the left side rear axle bearing bore for an unmachined surface in the 12:00 oclock to 3:00 oclock position. If an unmachined surface is found, replace the rear axle housing. |
| TSB 20-2013 | 2020-02-04. Service bulletin. Some 2013-2018 F-150/Expedition/Navigator vehicles equipped with 4-wheel drive (4WD) may exhibit an intermittent grinding noise while driving in 2-wheel drive (2WD) mode most commonly on acceleration. This may be due to a loss of vacuum to the integrated wheel end (IWE) actuators and/or wear of the IWE components. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to reprogram the transfer case control module (TCCM) and replace any worn vacuum and/or IWE components. |
| SSM 47141 | 2018-05-21. Service bulletin. Some 2013-2018 F-150/Expedition/Navigator 4x4 vehicles may exhibit an intermittent grinding noise coming from the right front or left front wheel area while accelerating in 2WD mode. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 308-07, Diagnosis and Testing Symptom Chart - NVH > The front axle makes noise in 2H mode only and generally under heavy throttle. |
