# Service bulletin TT230628

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10238568
- Published by NHTSA: 2023\-07\-05
- Manufacturer's number: TT230628
- Manufacturer's date: 2014\-09\-12
- NHTSA component: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

## NHTSA's summary

For long crank/ difficulty starting with the engine hot: Before replacing any components for this complaint, drain the fuel from the vehicle and replace with known good diesel fuel from a reputable source. If the complaint still exists, check fuel pressure and injector timing.

## Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component

- [Edition26](/bulletins/10242399.md), 2023-09-18, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; STRUCTURE. VW Elsa Newsletter
- [TB001403](/bulletins/10241265.md), 2023-08-28, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. Fuel Additive to Help Prevent Sporadic Misfire Faults
- [TT451301](/bulletins/10238966.md), 2023-07-10, Service bulletin: WHEELS; SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:ANTILOCK:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE; BACK OVER PREVENTION; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STEERING; STEERING:STEERING WHEEL /HANDLE BAR:YAW/ANGLE SENSOR. After replacing a Bosch 5.7 ABS module, refer to the table below to determine correct module coding value based on vehicle PR codes. Listed login code must be entered under Access/authorization before coding is attempted. After completing coding, G85 steering angle sensor basic settings must be performed before cycling key. To perform G85 basic settings manually in Vehicle self\-diagnosis \(VAS PC\) or Control Module OBD \(ODIS\), start by entering access/authorization code 40168. After code is accepted, turn steering wheel 1 turn left and back to center, one turn right, and then center steering wheel. Select basic settings and enter group 1. Once display changes to ?Sensor OK? or ?Calibration OK?, basic settings have been completed. Cycle key OFF and then back ON. Clear faults to verify repair.
- [TT450802](/bulletins/10238963.md), 2023-07-10, Service bulletin: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:WHEEL SPEED SENSOR/TONE RING; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Fault code 02543 000 ?Brake Vacuum Sensor no Display? may be encountered in the ABS module. This may be caused by the hydraulic brake boost function \(HBV\) in adaptation value 61 being turned off \(value = 0\). All Passat Wagons \(including 4motion\) and 3.6L equipped sedans with front drive should have this function turned on \(value = 1\). Change the adaptation value and verify the fault has cleared. Additionally, it may be necessary to lock the vehicle and allow the modules to go to sleep to clear the fault.
- [TT201301a](/bulletins/10238960.md), 2023-07-10, Service bulletin: UNKNOWN OR OTHER; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE \(ECU/ECM\); FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER. To clear static ECM fault P1250 ?Fuel Level Too Low?, add fuel to vehicle and complete a road test of at least 10 miles. Simply adding fuel without completing a road test may not allow fault to clear.
- [TT201301](/bulletins/10238959.md), 2023-07-10, Service bulletin: FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE \(ECU/ECM\); UNKNOWN OR OTHER. To clear static ECM fault P1250 ?Fuel Level Too Low?, add fuel to vehicle and complete a road test of at least 10 miles. Simply adding fuel without completing a road test may not allow fault to clear.
- [TT200906](/bulletins/10238954.md), 2023-07-10, Service bulletin: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL; FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER. Use the diagram below to test the N75 Solenoid Valve in the event of a turbocharger fault code such as P0299 or P0234. This applies to Mechanical Injection Style Diesel Engines, Pumpe Duse Style Diesel Engines and the new Common Rail Style Diesel Engines.
- [TT450654](/bulletins/10238620.md), 2023-07-05, Service bulletin: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:ABS WARNING LIGHT. To code a Bosch 5.3 ABS control module, use Vehicle Self\-diagnosis to enter the correct coding value from the tables below. Note that the first table is only applicable to 2.8L V6 equipped vehicles WITHOUT a CAN\-Bus. All 1.8L Turbo vehicles and those 2.8L V6 vehicles that are equipped with a CAN\-Bus should use the second table.
- [TT240801](/bulletins/10238572.md), 2023-07-05, Service bulletin: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Fault code P1297 may be set and fuel mixtures may go lean if the vehicle is driven under load or revved up and then returned to idle.
- [TT211301](/bulletins/10238566.md), 2023-07-05, Service bulletin: PARKING BRAKE. If mechanical damage is found to the turbocharger \(e.g. damaged compression wheel, loose or broken shaft\), it is not enough to just replace the turbocharger.
