# Service bulletin 22N12 S1

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component

- [SSM 54366](/bulletins/11025611.md), 2025-11-19, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2015\-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes \(DTCs\) P0011, P0012, P0014, P0015, P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019, P0021, P0022, P0024 and/or P0025. Pinpoint test HK in the Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis \(PC/ED\) or in Section 303\-14 of the Workshop Manual \(WSM\) has been updated to address this concern.
- [SSM 52476](/bulletins/10254138.md), 2024-05-03, Service bulletin: EQUIPMENT. All accessory stick\-on keyless entry keypads come with a wallet card containing the master code. If the accessory keypad was factory installed, this card will be placed in the glove box and should be handed to the vehicles owner during initial delivery. Unlike the integrated \(wired\) factory keypad, the accessory keypad master code cannot be retrieved from the vehicle using a diagnostic scan tool. If the wallet card for an accessory keypad is lost, follow these steps to recover the code. Dealer Key Code access is granted through the Dealer Program Enrollment System \(DPES\); dealership management can authorize users. The authorized user must go to FMCDealer.com \> Parts and Service \> Parts Product Line Information \> Keys/Entry Devices \> Aftermarket Keyless Entry Keypad Code Access. Follow the instructions on the screen to obtain the master code for the accessory keypad.
- [SSM 52314](/bulletins/10251934.md), 2024-03-20, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN. During service and repair requiring removal and replacement of a crankshaft bolt and/or crankshaft damper, achieving proper torque of the crankshaft pulley bolt is critical. Incorrect torque may allow the bolt to loosen resulting in the timing gear breaking and engine damage. Replacement of the bolt is critical to the repair and accurately following the installation procedure in the Workshop Manual \(WSM\) Section, 303\-01 is extremely important. The bolt torque procedure can be found in the crankshaft front seal removal and installation procedure or in the engine assembly procedure.
- [TSB 23\-2307](/bulletins/10244707.md), 2023-11-02, Service bulletin: UNKNOWN OR OTHER; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM\(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM\); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT:SOFTWARE. Some 2019\-2020 Edge/F\-150/Fusion/Continental/MKZ/Nautilus, 2019\-2021 Mustang/Ranger/Transit Connect, 2020\-2021 EcoSport/Escape/Expedition/Explorer/F\-Super Duty/Aviator/Corsair/Navigator, 2021 Bronco Sport and 2020\-2022 Explorer/Aviator vehicles with SYNC 3 may experience various SYNC performance related concerns. This article includes information on warranty, technical service tips and other service information.
- [SSM 51449](/bulletins/10233738.md), 2023-04-05, Service bulletin: EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Some 2020\-2023 Ford and Lincoln SYNC3 equipped vehicles may experience an inaccurate notification in the FordPass®/LincolnWay® app indicating Vehicle Has Entered Deep Sleep Mode. Vehicle Has Entered Deep Sleep Mode message is expected if the vehicle has not been started for 14 consecutive days, battery voltage is at/below 9.5 volts or the body control module \(BCM\) 12 volt battery state of charge \(SoC\) drops below 50%. If the vehicle is going into deep sleep outside these conditions, this may be due to the telematics control unit \(TCU\) software. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to update the TCU to the latest software. For claiming, use causal part 14G229 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards \(SLTS\) Manual.
- [TSB 22\-2396](/bulletins/10225458.md), 2022-11-01, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN. Some 2013\-2020 Fusion, MKZ and 2013\-2018 C\-Max vehicles equipped with an HF35 transmission may exhibit a thumping/rubbing or grinding noise coming from the transmission. The noise may be present in all gear ranges including neutral when the vehicle is moving but will not be present when the vehicle is stationary or in park.
- [22N12](/bulletins/10218899.md), 2022-08-30, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN. Certain 2015\-2018 Model Year Edge, 2019\-2020 Fusion and MKZ Vehicles Equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost Engine and 6F35 Transmission Rattle Noise at the Transmission Bellhousing Area – Flexplate Crack In some of the affected vehicles, a cracked flexplate may cause a rattling noise at start up and/or while driving the vehicle. The rattling noise may vary with vehicle operation and is most apparent with transmission in drive at idle speed. Some customers may also feel a powertrain vibration, encounter an inability to start the engine, or experience a loss of motive power while driving.
- [TSB 22\-2309](/bulletins/10218617.md), 2022-08-23, Service bulletin: EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT. Some 2013\-2017 C\-MAX Energi, 2013\-2018 Focus battery electric vehicle \(BEV\), 2013\-2020 Fusion plug\-in hybrid electric vehicle \(PHEV\), 2015\-2017 MKZ/MKZ Hybrid/MKC, 2016\-2017 MKX and 2017 Continental vehicles equipped with 8 inch or larger center display screen may be unable to complete modem authorization after 3G to 4G modem upgrade was performed. No Authorization Pop\-up will be displayed on the center display screen during the Authorization process. The vehicle may also not have proper functionality of remote app features such as remote start, return odometer, fuel information, or vehicle location incorrect in the app. This may be due to the SYNC software. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to toggle Valet Mode.
- [SSM 50861](/bulletins/10214492.md), 2022-06-29, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN. Some 2015\-2016 vehicles equipped with 6F50/6F55 transmission and built on 2\-Nov\-2015 and through 1\-Feb\-2016 may exhibit no reverse, 3rd and 5th gear with diagnostic trouble codes \(DTCs\) P0715,P0717,P0756 and/or P2701. This may be caused by the direct clutch cylinder/tone wheel \(7F283\) inadvertently forcing the snap ring out of position resulting in damage to the direct clutch hub \(7G384\). Service part \(7J250\) complete rotating 3\-5\-R clutch module is now available. Refer to Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 307\-01. For claiming, use causal part 7F283 and applicable labor operations in Section 7 of the Service Labor Time Standards \(SLTS\) manual.
