Service bulletin 0213812

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

09-69-192019-07-01. Service bulletin. This bulletin provides an additional service procedure for replacing the pulsation dampers located on both low-pressure fuel delivery pipes as shown in the illustration below. Although the BRZ Service Manual does not currently show the dampers and the required replacement seals as separate components, the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) does provide exploded view and individual part number ordering information.
09-54-12R2019-02-25. Service bulletin. This bulletin provides a procedure to address customer concerns of a high-pitched ?chirp?, ?squeak? or ?cricket? sound heard coming from the engine?s Direct Injection (DI) high-pressure fuel pump. Not all DI pumps may exhibit this sound. Some vehicles may have components which in combination with certain fuel temperatures and / or formulations, may result in aeration of the fuel within the body of the pump and cause this sound. This result is non-detrimental to the vehicle. Production changes have been made to eliminate the source of the sound.

09-54-12R2018-06-18. Service bulletin. The purpose of this bulletin is to provide information regarding a high-pitched ?chirp?, ?squeak? or ?cricket? sound you may hear coming from the engine?s high-pressure fuel pump. Not all pumps may exhibit this condition. Some may have a plunger stopper shape which in combination with certain fuel temperatures or fuel formulations, may result in aeration of the fuel within the body of the pump and cause this sound when the engine is idling. This result is non-detrimental to the fuel system or engine. A production change was made to an internal fuel passage along with a change to the shape of the plunger stopper thus eliminating the source of the sound. Once the sound has been confirmed, the high-pressure pump assembly must be replaced to remedy the condition.

09-54-122016-11-30. Service bulletin. "REMINDER: THE PURPOSE OF THIS BULLETIN IS TO PROVIDE INFORMATION REGARDING A HIGH-PITCHED “CHIRP”, “SQUEAK” OR “CRICKET” SOUND YOU MAY HEAR COMING FROM THE ENGINE’S HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. NOT ALL PUMPS MAY EXHIBIT THIS SOUND. IT IS A RESULT OF THE POSITIONING OF THE PLUNGER STOPPER INSIDE THE HIGH PRESSURE PUMP. SOME MAY HAVE A PLUNGER STOPPER POSITION THAT WHEN COMBINED WITH CERTAIN FUEL TEMPERATURES OR FUEL FORMULATIONS, MAY RESULT IN AERATION OF THE FUEL WITHIN THE BODY OF THE PUMP CAUSING THIS SOUND WHEN THE ENGINE IS IDLING. THIS RESULT IS NON-DETRIMENTAL TO THE FUEL SYSTEM OR ENGINE. NOT ALL PUMPS WILL EXHIBIT THIS CONDITION. A PRODUCTION CHANGE WAS MADE TO CONSISTENTLY ORIENT THE POSITION OF THE PLUNGER STOPPER DURING ASSEMBLY THUS ELIMINATING THE SOURCE OF THE SOUND. ONCE THE CHIRPING SOUND HAS BEEN CONFIRMED, THE HIGH-PRESSURE PUMP ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED TO REMEDY THE CONDITION."
