# Service bulletin SSM 51184

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10226753
- Published by NHTSA: 2022\-11\-29
- Manufacturer's number: SSM 51184

## NHTSA's summary

Some 2020\-2022 Escape/Corsair vehicles built on or before 17\-May\-2022 and 2021\-2022 Bronco Sport vehicles built on or before 25\-Feb\-2022 may exhibit a hiss or rattle noise while driving. This may be due to an internal issue with the manual park release cable. If the noise is eliminated when the cable is disconnected from the transmission, install a new manual park release cable assembly LX6Z\-7D246\-T. Refer to the Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 307\-05 \> Automatic Transmission External Controls \> Removal and Installation.

## Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component

- [SSM 50743](/bulletins/10211727.md), 2022-05-14, Service bulletin: PARKING BRAKE. Some 2021\-2022 Bronco Sport vehicles built on or before 22\-Feb\-2022 may exhibit a hiss or rattle noise while driving. This may be due to an internal issue with the manual park release cable. If the noise is eliminated when the cable is disconnected from the transmission, install a new manual park release cable assembly. Refer to the Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 307\-05 \> Automatic Transmission External Controls \> Removal and Installation.
- [SSM 50274](/bulletins/10203885.md), 2021-12-07, Service bulletin: UNKNOWN OR OTHER; PARKING BRAKE:CONVENTIONAL:MECHANICAL:LINKAGE AND CABLE; POWER TRAIN:TRANSMISSION CASE/HOUSING. Some 2021 Bronco Sport vehicles may exhibit a hiss or rattle noise while driving. This may be due to an internal issue with the manual park release cable. If the noise is eliminated when the cable is disconnected from the transmission, install a revised manual park release cable part number LX6Z\-7D246\-S following Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 307\-05.
- [TSB 20\-2291](/bulletins/10179156.md), 2020-09-02, Service bulletin: PARKING BRAKE. This article supersedes TSB 20\-2135 to correct the Service Procedure. Some 2020 Explorer/Aviator/Corsair vehicles built on or before 23\-Jul\-2020 may inadvertently activate the reverse braking assist system while backing up. This may be perceived as the system is too sensitive to surrounding objects. This may be due to the software in the image processing module B \(IPMB\). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the IPMB, as well as the accessory protocol interface module \(APIM\) to allow the vehicle to remember the last setting of reverse brake assist when the vehicle is restarted.
