# Service bulletin SSM 51114

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

Some 2021\-2022 F\-650/F\-750, 2020\-2022 Motorhome/Commercial Stripped Chassis vehicles built on or before 21\-Sep\-2022 with very low miles may experience parking brake drag. This condition typically occurs in less than 3000 miles \(4800 kilometers\). This condition may be identified even with the hand or pedal actuator mechanism disengaged. Inspect the park brake system for damage and replace parts as required per Workshop Manual \(WSM\) Section 206\-05. If no damage if found, adjust the park brake cables and the park brake shoe adjuster per WSM, Section 206\-05. For claiming, use the applicable labor operations of the Service Labor Time Standards \(SLTS\) Manual.

## Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component

- [SSM 52308](/bulletins/10250854.md), 2024-03-05, Service bulletin: SERVICE BRAKES. Some 2022 F\-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 12.3 inch center display screen and 2023\-2024 F\-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit DTCs B1D08:11 and/or B1D09:11 stored in the trailer module \(TRM\) with a Trailer Brake System Fault See Manual message in the instrument panel cluster \(IPC\) when a trailer is not connected to the vehicle. This may be due to water intrusion at the back side of the trailer tow connector. Inspect connector C4099 and the trailer tow connector \(14489\) for signs of corrosion or damage. If corrosion or damage is present at either connector, replace the female side of the C4099 connector using service pig tail kit \(3U2Z\-14S411\-JXC\) and the trailer tow connector. If corrosion or damage is not present, refer to the Workshop Manual \(WSM\) Section 417\-01 Exterior Lighting, Diagnosis and Testing for additional diagnosis. For claiming, use causal part 14489 and applicable labor operations in Section 01 of the Service Labor Time Standards \(SLTS\) Manual.
- [SSM 51261](/bulletins/10228876.md), 2023-01-06, Service bulletin: SERVICE BRAKES. Some Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit noise when the brakes are applied. When diagnosing and repairing brake noise conditions, use the Workshop Manual \(WSM\) and the appropriate pinpoint test in section 206\-00. The brake rotors should only be machined if directed by the WSM because one or more of the following conditions are present on the braking surface: scoring, excessive corrosion/rust or pitting, bluing/discoloration and/or heat spots. For additional information, refer to WSM section 206\-00.
