# Service bulletin TSB 22\-2339

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10220379
- Published by NHTSA: 2022\-09\-23
- Manufacturer's number: TSB 22\-2339
- Manufacturer's date: 2022\-09\-05
- NHTSA component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN

## NHTSA's summary

Some 2018\-2021 Expedition/Navigator, 2018\-2020 F\-150/Mustang and 2019\-2021 Ranger vehicles equipped with a 10R80 automatic transmission may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp \(MIL\) with diagnostic trouble code \(DTC\) P163E stored in the powertrain control module \(PCM\) or transmission control module \(TCM\) after replacing the main control valve body. This may be due to software incompatibility between the replacement main control valve body solenoid strategy file and the PCM/TCM software. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to enter only the 13\-digit solenoid body strategy when downloading transmission strategy.

Some 2021\-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an "Updating SYNC" message on the vehicle center display screen after an over the air \(OTA\) update. The message can be cleared from the center display screen and SYNC can be used normally, but it will re\-appear at every subsequent ignition cycle. Inform customers that engineering is currently working on a software update solution for this condition to be delivered OTA expected in late Q3 2026. Software will update automatically if vehicle connectivity is enabled in the vehicles settings. Monitor Professional Technician System \(PTS\) for additional information.

Some 2018\-2024 Expedition and 2018\-2027 Navigator vehicles equipped with a rear seat entertainment system/Lincoln Play may experience various system concerns. Rear seat entertainment systems are not on a controller area network \(CAN\) and are not supported by the Ford Diagnostic and Repair System \(FDRS\). Certain system concerns may be resolved through software updates which will automatically download once each individual monitor is connected to Wi\-Fi. Diagnostic support for rear seat entertainment systems is provided by VOXX electronics. If necessary, contact the VOXX Customer Service Department at 1\-866\-869\-7888. If possible, record the device serial number by selecting the gear/Setup icon \> Settings \> Device and Software \> About. If the unit will not power up, the serial number is on a label on the back of the monitor. It is helpful to know the date the issue occurred, how long the monitors were on prior to the issue, what app/input/media was being used, and if the system software was recently updated prior to the concern starting. - [SSM 54720](/bulletins/11031263.md), 2026-04-10, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION. Various 2020\-2026 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with blind spot information system \(BLIS\) may experience an inoperative blind spot monitoring with a "Blind Spot System Fault" message displayed in the instrument panel cluster \(IPC\). This may also be accompanied by diagnostic trouble codes \(DTCs\) B118C:11 and/or B118C:15 stored in the driver door module \(DDM\), and/or B118D:11 and/or B118D:15 stored in the passenger door module \(PDM\). This may be due to the wiring connector from the mirror to the BLIS module. If diagnostics lead to an internal mirror wiring harness fault, a new lower level BLIS light pigtail is now released for service. It is not necessary to replace the exterior mirror assembly. Use part number SC3Z\-14A411\-B to resolve the concern.
