# Service bulletin SB1709

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

Product Improvement: ALL VEHICLES WITH LIGHT\-ALLOY WHEELS \- Introduction of wheel\-end monitoring system \(WEM\). Van Hool has released a wheel\-end monitoring system \(WEM\) which can be installed on all vehicles equipped with light\-alloy wheels. The WEM is installed at the outboard side of the wheel and monitors vibrations produced by the wheel bearing. It warns in case of bearing raceway spalling by flashing a red LED on the unit. The WEM is delivered with a magnet which is used to change from "transport" to "standstill" mode.
