# Service bulletin SSM 50899

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

Some 2022 Navigator vehicles may experience an inoperative 2nd row multi\-contour seat massager. This may be due to the child safety lock \(located on the driver door window control switch\) being activated. If the function is inoperative, first verify the child safety lock is not active before performing further diagnostics. For additional information, refer to Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 501\-10B Second Row Seats \> Overview and/or the Rear Seat section of the Owner's Manual.

Use service part W709919\-S901 if the J\-clip is completely detached from the seat cover and W715386\-S424 if the clip is still partially attached. Some 2018\-2024 Expedition and 2018\-2027 Navigator vehicles equipped with a rear seat entertainment system/Lincoln Play may experience various system concerns. Rear seat entertainment systems are not on a controller area network \(CAN\) and are not supported by the Ford Diagnostic and Repair System \(FDRS\). Certain system concerns may be resolved through software updates which will automatically download once each individual monitor is connected to Wi\-Fi. Diagnostic support for rear seat entertainment systems is provided by VOXX electronics. If necessary, contact the VOXX Customer Service Department at 1\-866\-869\-7888. - [SSM 54608](/bulletins/11029442.md), 2026-03-03, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; SEATS. Some 2022 Navigator vehicles may exhibit a loss of driver seat adjustment functions after replacing the driver seat module \(DSM\). The accelerator and brake pedals may also move when actuating certain seat adjustment switches. This may be due to incorrect software being released into the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System \(FDRS\) scan tool at the time of the previous programmable module installation \(PMI\). The software has since been corrected on Ford servers. To correct the condition, perform Programmable Module Installation \(PMI\) on the DSM using the latest software level of the FDRS scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 14C708 and labor operations 12651D and 12651D4.
- [TSB 23\-2396](/bulletins/10248357.md), 2024-01-05, Service bulletin: SEATS. This article supersedes TSB 23\-2036 to add 2024 vehicle model years. Some 2018\-2024 Navigator and Expedition vehicles may exhibit a concern where the second row seat back does not fold down or recline when the recline handle is pulled upward or the second row single seat easy entry seat fold switch is pressed. This concern may occur with vehicles equipped with two or three second row seats. This may be due to a broken recliner release lever. To correct this concern, replace the recliner release lever.
- [PU1009\- SMN Nav](/bulletins/10244813.md), 2023-11-03, Service bulletin: SEATS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Software Update PU10090\-SMN for Navigator is now available. Quality improvements include: \-Seats Modules enhancement to reduce Key Off Load.

- [SSM 51311](/bulletins/10230924.md), 2023-02-02, Service bulletin: SEATS. Some 2018\-2023 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may have a concern where the second row seat is locked in the forward tilted position while using Easy Entry preventing rearward movement. To unlock the seat, tip the seat back fully forward and slide the seat fully forward to its end of track travel. This will allow the seat to then be free to move rearward. This operation is characteristic to the Easy Entry feature of the second row seats. Do not force the seat rearward while in the locked position as it can result in damage to the seat track. Refer to the vehicle's Owner's Manual for further details.

This may be due to a damaged or inoperative seat track motor. A lower level service part has been released to correct noisy, incorrect operation/inoperative seat track motors.
