# Service bulletin SSM 50869

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10214497
- Published by NHTSA: 2022\-06\-29
- Manufacturer's number: SSM 50869
- Manufacturer's date: 2022\-06\-20
- NHTSA component: EXTERIOR LIGHTING

## NHTSA's summary

Some 2021\-2022 Mustang Mach\-E vehicles may exhibit a condition of intermittent headlamp operation while the vehicle is OFF and have diagnostic trouble code \(DTC\) B1533 stored in the body control module \(BCM\). This may be due to the internal logic within the headlamp switch. Switch and/or module replacement will not resolve this condition. Headlamp operation is not affected while the vehicle is ON. A new headlamp switch is currently under development to correct this condition. Let the customer know they can continue to drive the vehicle and schedule a follow\-up appointment in November 2022, when parts are expected to become available. Follow up with the customer to confirm the appointment once OASIS is updated with the repair information.

## Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component

- [SSM 55194](/bulletins/11037561.md), 2026-09-30, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EXTERIOR LIGHTING; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Some 2021\-2024 Mustang Mach\-E, 2025\-2026 Navigator and 2024 F\-150 vehicles may exhibit inoperative welcome/approach detection lights. This may be due to the body control module \(BCM\) software. To correct the condition, download and run the "BCM \- Programmable Module Installation \(PMI\)" application using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System \(FDRS\) scan tool. If the condition persists after PMI, refer to Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 417\-01 for normal diagnostics and repair as necessary outside of this article. For claiming, use causal part 15604 and labor operations 12651D and BCM.
- [SSM 54811](/bulletins/11032692.md), 2026-05-14, Service bulletin: EXTERIOR LIGHTING; STRUCTURE:BODY. 2022\-2026 Mustang Mach\-E vehicles built on or after 03\-Jan\-2022 are no longer equipped with a hands free liftgate system. The vehicle is not misbuilt. The addition of any parts is not a warrantable repair. Do not submit a claim for this condition.
- [SYNC\-26.2.1.6.5.2 MachE](/bulletins/11030596.md), 2026-04-02, Over\-the\-air update: EXTERIOR LIGHTING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. "26C10 Recall remedy \-Addresses instances where the trailer lights and trailer brakes may not function"
- [SSM 51696](/bulletins/10237794.md), 2023-06-13, Service bulletin: EXTERIOR LIGHTING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2021\-2022 Mustang Mach\-E vehicles built on or before 19\-Aug\-2022 may exhibit a condition of intermittent headlamp operation while the vehicle is off and have diagnostic trouble code \(DTC\) B1533 stored in the body control module \(BCM\). This may be due to the internal logic within the headlamp switch. To correct this condition, replace the headlamp switch \(service base PN: 11654\). Refer Workshop Manual, Section 417\-01. For claiming, use casual part 11654 and the applicable labor operations of Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards \(SLTS\) Manual.
- [SSM 51647](/bulletins/10236584.md), 2023-05-31, Service bulletin: EXTERIOR LIGHTING. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and schedule a follow\-up appointment in July 2023, when parts are expected to become available. Follow up with the customer to confirm the appointment once OASIS is updated with the repair information.
