Service bulletin RCA-78-22-007-1
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary
Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some model year 2022 R1T vehicles that may have been paired with a key fob with older firmware. If the key fob firmware has not been updated, the key fob may experience rapid battery drain and possible loss of function. If the key fob experiences a battery drain, the driver will receive a notification on the driver display. If there is a loss of key fob function, the vehicle can still be unlocked, accessed, and activated through other means. These include Rivian-provided access cards and wrist bands, the Rivian smartphone app, or a remote unlock from Rivian Service. Rivian will replace the batteries in all key fobs and update the key fob firmware. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles.

| RCA-86-23-001-1 | 2023-09-07. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some model year 2022 R1T vehicles that may have been built with a driver assistance/audio/display module that is unable to receive updated HD map information. The inability to receive updated HD map information may cause the performance of the vehicle's Highway Assist feature to degrade over time. Rivian will update the firmware of the module to enable it to receive updated HD map information. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles. |

| RCA-96-23-001-1 | 2023-09-07. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some model year 2022 R1T and R1S vehicles that may have been delivered with a tire sealant kit that is prone to leaking. A leaking tire sealant kit may stain or damage the other components inside the auxiliary air compressor kit. Additionally, the reduced volume of remaining sealant may not be sufficient to seal larger holes in a damaged tire, which the customer would determine when following the instructions in the owner's guide or on the tire sealant kit. Rivian will replace the tire sealant kit or, if the tire sealant kit is already leaking, will replace the entire auxiliary air compressor kit. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles. |
| RSB-56-23-001-1 | 2023-03-02. Service bulletin. Rivian is launching a technical service bulletin for some model year 2022 R1T and R1S vehicles that are equipped with early production versions of the left-hand (LH) and right-hand (RH) front door fixed glass moldings. In some situations, the molding may become separated from the fixed glass, resulting in excessive wind noise and a perceived quality issue. Upon customer complaint of the molding separating from the fixed glass, or complaint of excessive wind noise from the front glass area, Rivian will perform this bulletin to upgrade the affected components for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles. |
| RSB-60-22-001-1 | 2023-01-05. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a technical service bulletin for some R1T vehicles that may have a tonneau cover that does not properly open or close. If necessary, Rivian will open the tonneau cover and temporarily disable it so that it remains in a fully-open position. |
| RCA-56-22-011-1 | 2023-01-05. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some model year 2022 R1T vehicles that have a bed storage compartment that could be difficult to open during freezing weather conditions. In these conditions, the bed storage compartment seal could stick to the bed floor panel if moisture seeps between these components and freezes. Rivian will replace the bed storage compartment seal with a new seal that is coated to prevent sticking. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles. |
| RCA-46-22-001-1 | 2022-08-05. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some model year 2022 R1T vehicles that may have been built with front upper control arm bolt pass through holes in the shock tower that are larger than necessary. This could lead to premature wear of the control arm bushings, causing minor changes to vehicle suspension alignment. Rivian will inspect the front upper control arm bushings for wear and install washers on the front shock towers to better support the bushings. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles. |
| RCA-78-22-009-1 | 2022-07-07. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some model year 2022 R1T vehicles that may have been built with a trapped jump start wire harness. This condition would prevent the jump start wire harness from being accessed in order to supply power to the 12V batteries from an external power source, preventing the vehicle from being “jump started” in the event of an over-discharged 12V battery. Rivian will inspect the jump start wire harness and reroute it if necessary. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles. |
| RCA-78-22-008-1 | 2022-07-07. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some model year 2022 R1T vehicles that may have been built with older firmware. If the vehicle has not been updated, the user may experience impaired vehicle access when using key cards or wrist bands. If there is a loss of key card and wrist band function, the vehicle can still be unlocked, accessed, and activated through other means, including the Rivian provided key fob, phone app, or remote unlock from Rivian Service. Rivian will perform a 12V reset and update the vehicle firmware to correct this issue. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles. |
| RCA-60-22-001-1 | 2022-07-07. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some 2022 R1T vehicles that may have been built with weakened fasteners that secure some underbody panels. Heavy impact to the underbody panels could cause the fasteners to shear off and the underbody panels to become loose. If a significant number of the fasteners are broken there is a possibility that the panel could drag on the ground or detach from the vehicle, though this condition has not been observed to date in any customer vehicle. Rivian will replace these fasteners. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles. |
| RCA-38-22-002-1 | 2022-07-07. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some model year 2022 R1T vehicles that may have been built with drive unit housing bolts that were not fully torqued. This condition may result in insufficient force holding together the exterior casing of the front and/or rear drive unit(s). If the housings are not sufficiently secured, the drive unit(s) may operate with increased levels of noise and vibration, which will be noticeable to customers. The drive unit(s) may also leak transmission oil which may be noticeable to the customer. Ultimately, if these warning signs are ignored, the unit may experience decreased life. A failure of a drive unit would result in a reduced performance safe-state mode and a corresponding indicator light will illuminate on the driver display. Rivian will retorque the affected drive unit fasteners to the correct specification for all affected vehicles. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles. |
