# Service bulletin TSB 22\-2150

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

This article supersedes TSB 22\-2117 to update the Issue, Action, Service Procedure. For some 2021 Mustang Mach\-E, F\-150, Edge, Nautilus and Bronco vehicles technicians may experience the inability to update the accessory protocol interface module \(APIM\) or telematics control unit \(TCU\) using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System \(FDRS\) and Universal Serial Bus \(USB\) drive. The PTS OTA Dashboard on vehicles with this condition may also display multiple APIM and/or TCU updates have failed, and/or a no OTA history message. In addition, on vehicles with this condition, the customer may have reported experiencing a Ford Power\-Up software update failure message via the vehicle display and/or FordPass/LincolnWay. This may be due to an internal software error. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to update and/or recover the APIM/TCU. Note: Only 10% of vehicles may require this procedure.

## Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component

- [SSM 52364](/bulletins/10252628.md), 2024-04-04, Service bulletin: STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. 2021\-2023 Bronco vehicles built on or before 9\-Jul\-2023 may have new version software in their driver door module \(DDM\) and passenger door module \(PDM\) that contains noticeable enhancements to the window short drop operation. This software level can be identified in the DDM and PDM as Software Part Number MU5T\-14C064\-CR or later. This software was released via a software update delivered over\-the\-air \(OTA\) starting in September 2023 if the vehicle's connectivity was enabled in the vehicle settings. Vehicles with this new software will exhibit a short drop event to all door windows anytime the vehicle is unlocked using the remote keyless entry \(RKE\), accessory keyless entry keypad, or the interior door unlock switch. The short drop function will return to the UP position when a lock input is received from these same inputs. For vehicles equipped with passive entry, a short drop event will not activate when a door is unlocked by placing a hand on an exterior door handle. 2023\-2024 Bronco vehicles built on and after 10\-Jul\-2023 received this software from the factory.

- [TSB 23\-2408](/bulletins/10248361.md), 2024-01-05, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2021 F\-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.0L diesel engine and an 8 inch instrument panel cluster \(IPC\) display \(minor feature code HKRAC, found by double\-clicking the top left vehicle identification number \(VIN\) in OASIS\) may exhibit an oil change minder feature that stays at 100% and does not decrease in the IPC. This may be due to the software level of the IPC. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to update the APIM to the latest software level via a coordinated flash.
- [TSB 23\-2389](/bulletins/10248354.md), 2024-01-05, Service bulletin: EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Some 2021\-2022 Mach\-E vehicles may experience an exterior charge status indicator not illuminating the blue charging segments after an over the air \(OTA\) update. This may be due to the software in the SYNC module \(APIM\). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to reprogram the APIM. NOTE: The APIM software update that addresses the symptom listed in this bulletin may have been sent via Ford Power\-Up software updates delivered over\- the\-air \(OTA\) to connected vehicles that have automatic updates enabled through the center display screen. Enter the vehicle identification number \(VIN\) in Professional Technician System \(PTS\) and check the OTA Dashboard under the Connected Vehicle tab for OTA update history. If an update to the APIM has successfully completed recently and the customer is reporting the symptoms are no longer present, this article may not apply.

Do not replace or reprogram the SCCM, image processing module A \(IPMA\) or their components for this condition at this time. This DTC does not alert the customer, will not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that will reprogram the IPMA and is expected in late December 2023. Monitor OASIS for additional information.

Some 2019\-2021 Edge/Nautilus vehicles equipped with all wheel drive \(AWD\) may exhibit a noise from the rear of the vehicle while approaching the vehicle or prior to starting engine. This may be due to the rear drive unit \(RDU\) actuator learning process. Reprogram the software in the AWD module to minimize the noise using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. If no other concerns or symptoms are present, further diagnosis or repairs are not recommended. For claiming, use causal part 4000 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards \(SLTS\) Manual.
