Service bulletin LI91.40-P-074328

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Complaint The warning message “PRE-SAFE inoperative” shown on IC display. “PRE-SAFE Inoperative” message found in cluster. Quick test shows that either left or right front Emergency Tensioning Retractor (ETRs) are unable to communicate with XENTRY Diagnosis. Instrument cluster confirms communication issues with ETRs. Note: If short or open circuit faults are found (or any other faults related to the ETRs), this document is not relevant. PRE-SAFE is a comfort feature where the operational state of its reversible retractors do not affect the functionality of the seatbelt in the event of a collision. Cause Communication with PRE-SAFE functions are temporarily lost. Remedy • Disconnect the ground of the 12V battery for 1 hour, then reconnect. • Perform the initial start-up for the seat belt ECUs (A76 or A76/1).
