# Service bulletin 18239 01

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10207697
- Published by NHTSA: 2022\-02\-07
- Manufacturer's number: 18239 01
- Manufacturer's date: 2018\-12\-04
- NHTSA component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE \(ECU/ECM\); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

## NHTSA's summary

Emissions Recall. General Motors has decided to conduct a Voluntary Emission Recall involving certain vehicles, equipped with 4\-cylinder engines \(RPO LHN, LEX, L3A, LYX, LKN, LE2, LCV or LTG\). On some vehicles, an electrical connection in the circuit board may fail in the engine control module. If this occurs, a malfunction indicator lamp \(MIL\), such as the Check Engine Light may illuminate. Replace the Engine Control Module \(ECM\).

- [PIP5628F](/bulletins/10236164.md), 2023-05-15, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE \(ECU/ECM\). This Preliminary information communicates information that will need to be provided to TAC to aid in diagnosing if a vehicle comes in with misfire and DTC Codes P0300 \- P0308 and/or P050D
- [PIP5895](/bulletins/10230704.md), 2023-01-30, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE \(ECU/ECM\). This Preliminary information communicates to the technician the need to inspect connector for moisture intrusion at ECM, procedure for verification of need for replacement
- [PIP5830A](/bulletins/10230698.md), 2023-01-30, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE \(ECU/ECM\). This Preliminary information communicates concerns created by an aftermarket ECM calibration installed by fleet companies. The Fleet companies install aftermarket ECM calibrations to limit the vehicle speed to approximately 70 mph and reduce the over all power output. This calibration also reduces the engine idle speed and may induce a vibration at idle. If the vehicle needs to be returned to factory specifications, the ECM must be replaced and programmed.
- [16NA325](/bulletins/10212590.md), 2022-05-31, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE \(ECU/ECM\). This technical bulletin provides a procedure on how to properly identify if there is any aftermarket calibrations loaded on the ECM or and detection of a power up hardware installed.
- [20NA197](/bulletins/10212562.md), 2022-05-31, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE \(ECU/ECM\); BACK OVER PREVENTION; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. This technical bulletin provides a procedure to inspect and repair the fuel pressure sensor if found the cause of the customers concern.
- [1823901](/bulletins/10207988.md), 2022-02-14, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; AIR BAGS; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE \(ECU/ECM\); EXTERIOR LIGHTING. Emissions Recall. General Motors has decided to conduct a Voluntary Emission Recall involving certain vehicles, equipped with 4\-cylinder engines \(RPO LHN, LEX, L3A, LYX, LKN, LE2, LCV or LTG\). - [N212345540](/bulletins/10207741.md), 2022-02-07, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE \(ECU/ECM\):SOFTWARE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Emission Recall. General Motors has decided to conduct a voluntary emission recall involving certain vehicles, equipped with a 2.0L engine. The Engine Control Module \(ECM\) in these vehicles may not respond to test tools with the correct Calibration Verification Number \(CVN\). If not corrected, this could result in a failure of an emissions Inspection and Maintenance \(I/M\) test or prevent a service technician from confirming that the appropriate program data is in the ECM. Dealers are to reprogram the Engine Control Module \(ECM\) with corrected software.
- [PIP5830](/bulletins/10204457.md), 2021-12-13, Service bulletin: EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE \(ECU/ECM\). This Preliminary information communicates concerns created by an aftermarket ECM calibration installed by fleet companies. The Fleet companies install aftermarket ECM calibrations to limit the vehicle speed to approximately 70 mph and reduce the over all power output. General Motors has decided to conduct a voluntary emissions recall involving certain vehicles equipped with a performance air intake system \(LPO RVK or 5W7\). The Engine Control Module \(ECM\) may not have been programmed with the calibrations appropriate for the performance air intake system installed on the engine in these vehicles. Dealers will reprogram the ECM.
- [21NA139](/bulletins/10200140.md), 2021-08-09, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE \(ECU/ECM\).
