This DTC indicates that the engine serial number \(ESN\) must be programmed into the PCM. The ESN is located on PTS\> OASIS\> Features\> Engine Serial Number. Once the ESN is obtained from the historical vehicle bill of materials \(HvBOM\), it can be programmed into the PCM using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. Navigate to the toolbox tab\> powertrain menu\> Service Functions\> ESN.
- [SSM 51032](/bulletins/10218605.md), 2022-08-22, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2020\-2022 Explorer/Aviator vehicles may exhibit automatic transmission fluid \(ATF\) contamination in the engine cooling system due to the transmission cooler. If the cooling system becomes contaminated with ATF, the system must be flushed clear of the contamination after the source of the contamination has been repaired. It is generally not necessary to replace the following components due to ATF contamination in the cooling system: radiator, heater core, de\-gas bottle, water pump, auxiliary water pump, coolant control valves, temperature sensors, thermostat, turbocharger, heat exchangers, tubes, gaskets/O\-rings/seals \(unless removed\), or rubber coolant hoses \(unless swollen\).
- [SSM 50885](/bulletins/10214841.md), 2022-06-30, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. 2020\-2022 Explorer/Aviator and 2021\-2022 F\-150 hybrid vehicles equipped with a 10R80 MHT require the Transmission Strategy Download application in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System \(FDRS\) to be run after certain transmission or module repairs. The Transmission Strategy Download routine is failing in FDRS levels 32.5.3 and 32.5.4. The FDRS development team is working to resolve this in a future release of FDRS. In the meantime, uninstall FDRS from the computer using the select all function to remove all data and recordings. Reinstall the older FDRS version 31.6.5 using this url \- http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford\_Content/IDS/FDRS/FDRS\_31.6.5.exe Once 31.6.5 is installed, download and run the Transmission Strategy Download application.
- [SSM 50622](/bulletins/10209414.md), 2022-03-30, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE \(TCM/PCM/TECM\); FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Some 2020 \- 2022 Explorer/Aviator/Police Interceptor Utility vehicles may display a distance to empty value in the instrument panel cluster \(IPC\) that does not correctly represent the actual fuel level of the vehicle. This may be due to excessive idling and/or a learned value in the powertrain control module \(PCM\) that is incorrect. To correct the condition, perform the PCM \- Reset the Keep Alive Memory \(KAM\) application in the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. For claiming, use Causal Part 12A650 and applicable labor times from Section 10 in the Service Labor Time Standards \(SLTS\) Manual.
- [SSM 50636](/bulletins/10209384.md), 2022-03-29, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. 2011\-2022 F\-Super Duty and 2016\-2023 F\-650/F\-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an elevated idle condition. During prolonged idle time, vehicles may experience this elevated idle to reduce unburned hydrocarbons from the SCR. The powertrain control module estimates hydrocarbon levels in the SCR and may increase idle speed to remove them. Idle speed will be increased to 1000 RPM for ambient temperatures near 26°C \(80°F\) and may increase to 1200 RPM at \-40 °C \(\-40°F\). Vehicles may exhibit exhaust smoke and diesel exhaust fluid smell during elevated idle condition. Exhaust smoke and smell condition will not affect reliability or durability of the engine. Power take\-off \(PTO\) use and idle set point control will disable elevated speed. It is required that the operator monitor the vehicle and adhere to any Exhaust Filter warning messages.
- [SSM 50549](/bulletins/10208829.md), 2022-03-08, Service bulletin: EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE \(TCM/PCM/TECM\). Some 2018\-2020 F\-150, 2017\-2022 F\-Super Duty and 2016\-2022 F\-650/F\-750 vehicles equipped with a diesel engine may exhibit diagnostic trouble code \(DTC\) P0000 stored in the powertrain control module \(PCM\) after an on\-demand self test. This DTC is due to a processing error in the PCM as a result of on\-demand self testing. P0000 is an invalid DTC that will not illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp \(MIL\) and no repairs should be performed.
- [TSB 21\-2434](/bulletins/10205717.md), 2022-01-01, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE \(TCM/PCM/TECM\). Some 2020\-2022 Explorer/Aviator/Police Interceptor Utility vehicles and 2021 F\-150 vehicles equipped with a 10R80 MHT automatic transmission may exhibit a harsh/delayed engagement and/or a harsh/delayed shift with or without an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp \(MIL\) or diagnostic trouble codes \(DTC\) P0729, P0731, P0732, P0733, P0734, P0735, P0736, P076F, P07D9, P07F6, P07F7, P2700, P2701, P2702, P2703, P2704 and/or P2705 stored in the powertrain control module \(PCM\). This may be due to sticking valves in the main control valve body. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to perform the PCM \- Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In routine for the appropriate clutch\(s\) and/or overhaul the main control valve body.
- [TSB 21\-2368](/bulletins/10202714.md), 2021-11-02, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE \(TCM/PCM/TECM\). Some 2017 F\-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp \(MIL\) with only diagnostic trouble codes \(DTCs\) P00BD, P012F, P0181, P0474, P124C, P1247, P20EE, P205B, P2263, P2269, P2459, and/or P259F stored in the powertrain control module \(PCM\). This may be due to various strategies within the PCM software. To resolve this condition, update the PCM software and perform a diesel particulate filter \(DPF\) manual regeneration and, if necessary, a DPF parameter reset according to the Service Procedure.
