# Service bulletin SSM 50375

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

Some 2016\-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 may exhibit a condition where the navigation voice prompts are inoperative after a SYNC map update. This may be due to an incomplete installation of the SYNC map software. If possible, using the original USB that installed the update, reperform the update and verify the navigation voice prompts have returned. Multiple reboots are expected when this update is being performed. Verify the Installation Is Complete message displays in the touch screen. If the original USB is not available, go to website https://syncnavigation.com/ford/home or https://syncnavigation.com/lincoln/home to download the files once more for the affected vehicle. For further map update support, reference the FAQ section on these websites.

Some 2019\-2021 Edge/Nautilus vehicles equipped with all wheel drive \(AWD\) may exhibit a noise from the rear of the vehicle while approaching the vehicle or prior to starting engine. This may be due to the rear drive unit \(RDU\) actuator learning process. Reprogram the software in the AWD module to minimize the noise using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. If no other concerns or symptoms are present, further diagnosis or repairs are not recommended. For claiming, use causal part 4000 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards \(SLTS\) Manual.

This may be due to the software in the gateway module \(GWM\). To correct this condition, reprogram the GWM to latest software level using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. Use causal part 14F642 and applicable labor times from Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards \(SLTS\) Manual.

This may be due to the SYNC Software. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to update the accessory protocol interface module \(APIM\) software.
- [TSB 22\-2147](/bulletins/10210497.md), 2022-04-26, Service bulletin: EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Some 2020\-2021 Escape and 2021 Corsair vehicles equipped with a 2.5L full hybrid electric vehicle \(FHEV\) or 2.5L plug\-in hybrid electric vehicle \(PHEV\) powertrain may exhibit a no crank/no start condition due to the passive anti\-theft system \(PATS\) immobilizer being enabled. This may be more prevalent after a vehicle service/repair. This may be due to software that renders the inverter system controller \(ISC\) \(also known as secondary on\-board diagnostic module C \(SOBDMC\)\) inoperable when a vehicle repair requires a PATS update. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram various modules starting with the powertrain control module \(PCM\).
- [SSM 50555](/bulletins/10208831.md), 2022-03-08, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; POWER TRAIN. Some 2020\-2021 Mustang GT500 vehicles may experience erratic and harsh shifting at highway speeds and/or reduced speed when accelerating from a stop, with a powertrain malfunction \(wrench\) indicator and DTCs P1601/P061A while using SelectShift. This may be due to powertrain control module \(PCM\) calibration. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle but not to use SelectShift. Engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in April 2022. Replacement or reprogramming of the PCM will not resolve this condition at this time. Schedule a follow\-up appointment for repair in April 2022. Once the update becomes available, contact the customer and confirm the service appointment. Monitor OASIS for updates.
- [SSM 50548](/bulletins/10208828.md), 2022-03-08, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE \(TCM/PCM/TECM\); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Some 2022 Maverick and 2020\-2022 Escape vehicles equipped with a 2.5L full hybrid electric vehicle \(FHEV\) powertrain may exhibit an idle surge and/or rough idle with high temperature in the catalytic convertor and sulfur odor in the cab. This may be due to the software installed in the powertrain control module \(PCM\). This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently developing a software update that is expected in the last week of March 2022. Once the software update is available, contact the customer and schedule a follow\-up appointment for repair. Monitor OASIS for updates.
