Service bulletin SSM 50305

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Some 2019-2021 Ranger vehicles may experience an uneven and/or excessive gap existing between the instrument panel (IP) topper and the center tray/upfitter switch assembly. This may be due to a lack of rigidity in the IP topper not allowing the tray/upfitter switch assembly to latch properly. The following foam block service kits should be used to correct this condition. For vehicles equipped with an IP tray, order service part # KB3Z-2104338-AG, which includes a new IP tray and foam blocks. For vehicles equipped with the upfitter switch assembly, order service part # KB3Z-2104338-A, which only includes the foam blocks. If a new upfitter switch assembly is required, this must be ordered separately. Follow the installation instructions included with each kit to install the foam blocks and repair the vehicle.

SSM 492642020-11-04. Service bulletin. Some 2019-2020 Ranger vehicles built on or before 30-Jul-2020 may experience poor and/or no temperature change when the temperature is adjusted in the climate control system. There may also be a clicking/snapping noise from behind the instrument panel. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1082 and/or B1081 may also be retrieved from the front controls interface module (FCIM). This may be due to an issue with the blend door and its controls. To avoid repeat repairs, it is recommended to replace the climate control housing assembly (service base part# 18478).
