# Service bulletin SSM 50151

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10201604
- Published by NHTSA: 2021\-09\-28
- Manufacturer's number: SSM 50151
- Manufacturer's date: 2021\-09\-24
- NHTSA component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

## NHTSA's summary

Some 2020\-2021 Explorer/Aviator Hybrids, 2021 Corsair Hybrid, 2021 F\-150 PowerBoost, and 2021 Mustang Mach\-E vehicles may exhibit a no\-start with a Stop Safely Now warning message in the instrument panel cluster \(IPC\). The vehicle may have one or more of the following DTCs P0A23, P0A6F, P0A72, P0A75, P0A71, P0A74, P0A77, P0DFA, P06B1, P0A47, P1A0E set by the secondary on\-board diagnostic module C \(SOBDMC\) or secondary on\-board diagnostic module B \(SOBDMB\). This may be due to a drop in the 12\-volt circuit. These DTCs will often occur at vehicle key\-on and may be difficult to reproduce. Before replacement of the SOBDMC or SOBDMB, diagnose any low voltage DTCs \(P0562, U3003\) in other modules in the 12V system. If low voltage \(less than 10V\) is observed in these DTCs snapshot, diagnose the 12v system first. Refer to Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 418\-00.

Some 2021\-2024 Mustang Mach\-E, 2025\-2026 Navigator and 2024 F\-150 vehicles may exhibit inoperative welcome/approach detection lights. This may be due to the body control module \(BCM\) software. To correct the condition, download and run the "BCM \- Programmable Module Installation \(PMI\)" application using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System \(FDRS\) scan tool. If the condition persists after PMI, refer to Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 417\-01 for normal diagnostics and repair as necessary outside of this article. For claiming, use causal part 15604 and labor operations 12651D and BCM.

Reason for update: update the labor operation numbers to add MT to operations C, F, G, H, J, K, L and M, and correct the part number LIMZ\-4A015\-B to L1MZ\-4A015\-B. Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit at least one of the following conditions: Harsh engagement Delayed engagement Harsh shift Delayed shift Illuminated malfunction indicator lamp \(MIL\) with diagnostic trouble codes \(DTC\)s P0751, P0752, P0756, P0757, P0761, P0762, P0766, P0767, P0771, P0772, P2700, P2701, P2702, P2703, P2704, P2705, P2707, P2708, P0729, P0731, P0732, P0733, P0734, P0735, P0736, P076F, P07D9, P07F6 and/or P07F7 stored in the powertrain control module \(PCM\) or transmission control module \(TCM\). This may be due to axial movement of the CDF clutch cylinder sleeve causing hydraulic circuit leaks. NOTE: If internal transmission service is required to address a concern detected with the CDF clutch cylinder following this article, technicians should carefully inspect and replace other transmission components and flush transmission fluid cooler only as ne

Some 2021\-2023 Mustang Mach\-E vehicles built on or before 25\-Jun\-2023, 2022\-2025 E\-Transit and 2022\-2023 F\-150 Lightning vehicles may experience a high voltage battery stop charging condition when using a direct current \(DC\) fast charger level 3 with diagnostic trouble codes \(DTCs\) P0EEE:27 and P2E53:27 stored in the on\-board diagnostic control module A \(SOBDM\). This may be due to the SOBDM software. Replacement of the charge port will not resolve this concern. Inform customers that their vehicles can still be charged using a level 1 or level 2 alternating current \(AC\) charger. Engineering is currently working on a software solution expected in Q3 2026. Schedule an appointment with the customer when the repair becomes available. Monitor Professional Technician System \(PTS\) for additional information.

Some 2020\-2025 Explorer vehicles equipped with a power roof opening panel may exhibit a sunshield with localized bunching or binding/inoperative. This may be due to a broken or missing sunshield fabric retainer/clip. A revised sunshield clip \(LJ6Z\-5452118\-B\) is now available to address this condition. It is not necessary to replace the entire sunshield assembly if the clip\(s\) are broken or missing. Refer to Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 501\-17 Roof Opening Panel \> General Procedures \> Inspection and Replacement of the Roof Opening Panel Shield Clip.
