# Service bulletin SSM 50015

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10200995
- Published by NHTSA: 2021\-09\-04

## NHTSA's summary

Some 2020\-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles are equipped with an anti\-fogging feature known as enhanced windshield anti fogging strategy \(EWAFS\). This feature automatically adjusts airflow in the cabin to prevent the windshield from fogging up and may be perceived by customers as irregular climate control functionality. To reduce fogging, the EWAFS functions include: the air condition \(A/C\) button may turn on and off automatically, recirculated air may turn off automatically in all air modes except MAX A/C, recirculated air may also turn on and off automatically in various airflow modes in order to improve heating or cooling efficiency, and in auto climate control, high humidity conditions may automatically engage A/C compressor, increase blower motor speed and/or direct more air to windshield. Continue to monitor the Workshop Manual \(WSM\) for EWAFS updates.

## Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component

- [SSM 55093](/bulletins/11036301.md), 2026-08-20, Service bulletin: STRUCTURE:BODY; VISIBILITY/WIPER. Some 2021\-2026 F\-150 vehicles may exhibit a concern of the windshield wipers not parking in the correct position on the windshield and/or over\-traveling. This may be due to incorrect alignment of the wiper pivot arm on the wiper linkage assembly. Wiper pivot arms may or may not be equipped with an alignment key. Alignment keys are a manufacturing aid and are not needed for proper alignment and operation. In some instances, it may be necessary to remove this alignment key to achieve proper alignment. Replacement of the wiper pivot arm, due to a missing alignment key is a not warrantable. Refer to Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 501\-16.
- [SSM 55069](/bulletins/11036103.md), 2026-08-11, Service bulletin: VISIBILITY/WIPER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STRUCTURE:BODY. Some 2020\-2025 Explorer vehicles equipped with a power roof opening panel may exhibit a sunshield with localized bunching or binding/inoperative. This may be due to a broken or missing sunshield fabric retainer/clip. A revised sunshield clip \(LJ6Z\-5452118\-B\) is now available to address this condition. It is not necessary to replace the entire sunshield assembly if the clip\(s\) are broken or missing. Refer to Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 501\-17 Roof Opening Panel \> General Procedures \> Inspection and Replacement of the Roof Opening Panel Shield Clip.
- [SSM 55008](/bulletins/11035100.md), 2026-07-20, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; VISIBILITY/WIPER; SEATS; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Some 2021\-2026 Ford vehicles may exhibit inoperative heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel and/or front/rear defrost features after a remote start is performed through the Ford mobile application or with the key fob. Customers may also experience heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel and/or front/rear defrost features turning on in unexpected conditions such as during warmer weather. These features will operate normally when commanded in the center display screen. This may be due to the customer not setting up their "Climate Settings" through the Ford mobile application. To correct this condition, inform the customer they should perform a remote start from the Ford mobile application and then adjust the "Climate Settings" in the Ford mobile application as desired. These settings only need to be set once and will persist through subsequent remote starts. Heated and cooled seats will be set to Level 2 when turned ON via "Climate Settings" in the Ford mobile application during a remote start event. This is normal operating characteristic. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no a
