# Service bulletin SSM 49545

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

Some 2020 Escape, 2020\-2021 Corsair, 2021 Bronco Sport and 2021 Mustang Mach\-E vehicles may exhibit DTC C1B00:62 present in the PSCM with any of the following messages displayed: Service Advance Trac, Hill Start Assist Not Available, Lane Keeping Sys. Malfunction Service Required, or Pre\-Collision Assist Not Available. This may be due to a disconnected or discharged battery, recent PSCM or anti\-lock brake system \(ABS\) module reprogram or configuration, or loss of ABS communication to the PSCM. The Workshop Manual pinpoint test is in the process of being updated and replacement of the electronic power assist steering \(EPAS\) column is not necessary. To clear the DTC, drive the vehicle straight for 30 seconds at speeds over 50 km/h \(30 mph\). Cycle the ignition on/off once complete. For claiming use causal part 3C529.

- [SSM 52476](/bulletins/10254138.md), 2024-05-03, Service bulletin: EQUIPMENT. All accessory stick\-on keyless entry keypads come with a wallet card containing the master code. If the accessory keypad was factory installed, this card will be placed in the glove box and should be handed to the vehicles owner during initial delivery. Unlike the integrated \(wired\) factory keypad, the accessory keypad master code cannot be retrieved from the vehicle using a diagnostic scan tool. If the wallet card for an accessory keypad is lost, follow these steps to recover the code. Dealer Key Code access is granted through the Dealer Program Enrollment System \(DPES\); dealership management can authorize users. The authorized user must go to FMCDealer.com \> Parts and Service \> Parts Product Line Information \> Keys/Entry Devices \> Aftermarket Keyless Entry Keypad Code Access. Follow the instructions on the screen to obtain the master code for the accessory keypad.

Some 2020\-2023 Escape and 2021\-2023 Bronco Sport vehicles may exhibit a moan noise when the vehicle is driven in reverse \(R\) in cold weather and/or high humidity. This may be due to the suspension sensitivity of the vehicle. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the standard and reinforced rear caliper bushings and apply Kluberpaste to the machined surfaces of the brake caliper and caliper support bracket.
- [TSB 23\-2307](/bulletins/10244707.md), 2023-11-02, Service bulletin: UNKNOWN OR OTHER; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM\(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM\); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT:SOFTWARE. Some 2021\-2023 Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with a 1.5L engine built on 24\-Jul\-2021 and through 31\-Aug\-2023 may exhibit a hissing noise from rear liftgate area when driving straight between 35\-50 MPH \(56 80 Km/h\). This may be due to the absence of the rear floor insulator located in the spare tire compartment. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to install a rear floor insulator in the spare tire compartment.
- [SSM 51874](/bulletins/10241597.md), 2023-09-02, Service bulletin: EQUIPMENT; VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM. Some 2021\-2023 Bronco Sport and 2020\-2023 Escape vehicles may exhibit a rattle or flapping noise coming from the rear air extractors while driving. This may be due to the normal operation of the rear air extractors. To determine if this is a normal condition, perform a road test at 40 mph \(65 km/h\) or above. Inspect if the noise is coming from the rear extractors. During the road test alternate air conditioning \(A/C\) between fresh mode and air re\-circulation mode. If the noise is eliminated when the A/C is in fresh mode, this is considered a normal characteristic of the vehicle and no repairs should be performed.

This may be due to fluid contamination in the rear drive unit \(RDU\). Drain and refill the RDU, refer to Workshop Manual Section \(WSM\) 205\-02. Drive for 5 miles \(8 km\) in stop and go conditions with right and left turns and re\-evaluate. If the issue is still present, continue with normal WSM diagnostics. For claiming, use base \(4000\) causal part.
