# Service bulletin TSB 21\-2006

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

Some 2017\-2020 Continental vehicles may exhibit a noisy or inoperative rear window blind. This may be due to corrosion within the rear window blind mechanism and/or poor engagement between the rear window blind motor and the mechanism. To correct the condition, floow the Service Procedure to install a shim kit and clean the rear window blind cables.

## Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component

- [SSM 48381](/bulletins/10169902.md), 2020-01-07, Service bulletin: VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2017 Fusion and MKZ vehicles built on or before 18\-Feb\-2017 and Continental vehicles may exhibit front windows that fail to open or close completely, bounce back, and/or have a complete loss of the one\-touch feature. Reprogram the driver door module \(DDM\) and/or the passenger door module \(PDM\) to the latest calibration using IDS version 106.02 or higher. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com. After programming perform the IDS power window initialization procedure. Access to this IDS learn procedure is available under Toolbox/Body/Power Window Initialization. For claiming, use causal part 14B291 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the service labor time standards \(SLTS\) manual.
- [SSM 48130](/bulletins/10164508.md), 2019-09-06, Service bulletin: VISIBILITY:GLASS, SIDE/REAR; VISIBILITY. Some 2010\-2020 vehicles may exhibit distorted glass with a subtle orange peel pattern or streaking etched into the surface. This is caused by hydrofluoric acid which is used in some car wash solutions as a cleaning agent. Hydrofluoric acid can attack the glass and cause visual distortion and/or discoloration on the outer surface which cannot be removed by further cleaning. If this type of distortion is found, inspect the area of the glass that is covered by the cowl and/or molding. The portion of glass that is covered by the cowl or molding will not be affected by the acid. Hydrofluoric acid damage is not a defect in material or workmanship and is not a warrantable condition.
- [SSM 46528](/bulletins/10109016.md), 2017-08-01, Service bulletin: EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS. Some 2017 MKZ and Fusion vehicle built on or before 30\-Oct\-2016, and Continental vehicles may exhibit window bounce back when using the one\-touch feature and/or a loss of window one\-touch up functionality. Perform the Integrated Diagnostic System \(IDS\) power door window initialization procedure. The learn procedure is available on IDS software version 104.02 or later. Access to this IDS learn procedure is available under Toolbox / Body / Power Window Initialization. For claiming, use causal part 14B291 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the service labor time standards \(SLTS\) manual. No additional repairs should be attempted if this does not resolve the concern. Engineering is aware and is currently investigating. Monitor OASIS for future updates.
- [SSM 46394](/bulletins/10095844.md), 2017-03-20, Service bulletin: VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS; VISIBILITY. SOME 2017 MKZ, FUSION, AND CONTINENTAL VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT WINDOW BOUNCE BACK WHEN USING THE ONE\-TOUCH FEATURE AND/OR A LOSS OF WINDOW ONE\-TOUCH UP FUNCTIONALITY.
