# Service bulletin SSM 49062

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10179320
- Published by NHTSA: 2020\-09\-04
- Manufacturer's number: SSM 49062

- NHTSA component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

## NHTSA's summary

Some 2017\-2020 F\-Super\-Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit hard start, lack of power or runs rough concern with malfunction indicator light \(MIL\) and diagnostic trouble codes \(DTCs\) P0087 and/or P008A. This may be due to low fuel level or fuel gelling in cold ambient temperatures. If no root cause is determined after normal PCED diagnostic test MA recommend that customer use a different brand of fuel and Motorcraft PM\-23\-A Diesel Fuel Anti\-Gel and Performance Improver. Inform the customer that Bio Diesel blended fuels have a higher occurrence of fuel gelling. Fuel gelling and or low fuel conditions causing a P0087 and/or P008A is not covered under warranty.
